This is an appeal from Happy Endings Final Feliz in Chiclana near Cadiz. Last winter friends of mine spent a couple of months there helping the association with abandoned dogs and looking after them. They came back with two puppies which had been born to an abandoned podenca; now named Oliver and Nancy, the puppies are benefiting from being in a home environment, although Nancy continues to be nervous of strangers.

Fabi is another such young dog, whose mother was a Podenca. Karen takes up his story.

‘He’s been waiting for nearly a year for someone to take him into their heart. He’s around 3 years old and is a very sweet dog.

Fabi was always around the car boot sales (a year ago) that we do every Sunday to raise money for the charity. At first we believed him to be a latch dog that lived close by but over a few weeks it became obvious that he more than likely had been abandoned. Everyone became fond of him as he was so friendly and loveable. After no one came forward for him we decided to take him in and give him a chance.

Fabi tested positive to lieshmania and became very ill. We thought that we were going to lose him a few times over a few months. But he wanted to live and finally came through the illness and is now a picture of health. Fabi no longer needs treatment. He has been castrated. weight about 12/14 kilos, 36cm tall. Chocolate brown with a little white on the chest.

He gets on well with other dogs and is a lovely natured dog who,, like most deserves a chance of a good home that will give him love, which he will return in bucket loads!!!’
