    **** I’m Zeus.****
    It’s a long time since I left.
The truth is that I was never happy, always treated me badly.
I lived in a place surrounded and with a small roof to get out of the cold and the rain.
I’m just out to hunt, until one day they stopped doing it.
I don’t run long enough for that person to whom I belonged.
A few days later they took me in the middle of the field with another dog like me and they cut us loose.
I didn’t know what to do, whether to run, or wait until my master gave me an order.
    I was disoriented.
I’ve never lived through a similar situation.

  • Podenca Andaluz Sunday – waiting for her forever home

Sunday_03Has anyone room in their heart and home for this little sweetie?

Hello, I’m writing to you about my little rescued podenco girl Sunday. She desperately needs a forever home. She was found on the street in May 2015 and has been staying with me since. I have taken care of all her vaccines and deparasiting + chipping, disease tests clean. Her sterilization is pending. She is currently with me in Fuengirola / Spain.

I have been contacting every organisation and private person I know for months but so far nothing. Please let me know if you can help with her case somehow else. Best, Ani Roschier.

  • Huesca, Zaragoa – can anyone help Chiqui

Chiqui 8 2012 200I’ve received this plea from a volunteer about a podenco x who is in Huesca perrera. He was attacked by another dog and has an injured leg. Susanna desperately wants to get him out, but the refuges and fosters are full. Can anyone help her? You can write to her using Google translate into Spanish – that’s how she wrote to me in English!

My name is Susan and I write from Spain to ask for your help. I apologize if I do not write well. I used the internet translator because I have only a little English.

I have attached a photo of Chiqui. He is a x podenco in the perrera of Huesca (Zaragoza). He is 4 years old and is a very good dog, very friendly, cheerful and has a fantastic character.

  • Pig or Podenco? More barbarity from the Spanish hunters or genetic mutation?

Bella nose 8 2012The barbarity of some Spanish hunters defies belief at times. This beautiful young podenca is a victim of one type of inexplicable cruelty – cutting the nose to make the podenca look like a pig! I’ve come across this before, twice we have brought podencos out of Spain who have suffered this barbarity. Poor Joy had problems drinking, as water tended to go up his nostrils – what was left of them. And his trauma….with a lot of love and patience, especially on the part of his foster family, over many months he became a very affectionate little chap.

This is Bella, and she urgently needs a foster home, as she is currently in a locked garage.

‘Hello I am a perrita of approximately seven months that due to a break of the right paw my proprietor (Hunter) already does not need me,

I am very young but I already have one of my paws fractured, he was forcing me to cover to run and to run and due to the effort that it was doing I broke the sinews…
also I have been hurt by pellets in the body, he did that to make me scare and run faster!

  • Podencas Linda and Maggie – foster and forever homes needed

Linda 250 dog links 1 7 2012Two more podencos hoping they will get a forever home. Here are their stories.

Linda is just 18 months old and has already suffered at the hands of her cruel hunter owner. Some of her puppies were rescued and got away to homes, but others were killed and now Linda herself is left behind with a very very uncertain future!! It has been known that the hunters return in August to steal the dogs back from the refuge because they are good breeders…….. so poor little Linda could just disappear one day back to her life of horror!

This breed make wonderful pets, gentle, intelligent, playful and adorable. Please contact us if you can help Linda – even if it’s to foster her till we can get her a forever home here in France or even through contacts we have in the UK. We must get her out and safe as soon as possible! Call on :-05 65 69 12 26 or email at :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com to save this little sweet creature from disappearing back to a life of cruelty.

    Maggie 1 250 dog links 7 2012Little Maggie is 4 yrs old and weighs 15kgs – so she’s a small medium rough-haired Podenca Andaluz – and she’s an angel we’re told!

She arrived at a refuge in Spain as a tiny puppy and then spent 4 years there, locked up and never knowing life outside her cage – imagine this! She was recently brought out of Spain to a foster home here in France and is now finding out how wonderful life can be! She is slowly learning that people can be kind, food is good and how her gentle, affectionate nature brings out the best in people! She plays with cats, explores her garden, adores walks and to roll in the perfumed lavender, and soaking up the sun in her new found freedom.

Maggie 2 250 dopg links 7 2012Maggie will need another dog for company, an enclosed, safe garden and continuing TLC and patience to fully build up her confidence and trust. To know a Podenca is to love them! Doglinks has a rescued one who was so badly treated we never thought she would ever trust humans again…….. but she has, because this breed is intelligent, but above all kind and accepting, grateful and giving.

Please think of giving them a good home please and if Maggie (or others) would be welcome and cared for in your home, please contact us : 05 65 69 12 26 or email direct at :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com You will never make a better decision by taking on one of these amazing dogs. Thank you!’

    Linda in the refuge.

  • Podenco dead on his feet – safe with Little Pod Foundation – seeking forever?

Alfred 1 250This is Alfred he was found collapsed in the blazing sun in a remote area of the campo on Friday the 25th May. He was one lucky Podenco found by Manuela and her friends out cycling. He was so exhausted that he couldn’t even raise his head to drink some water. Thankfully they picked him up and took him to a local vet who then contacted Little Pod Foundation.

On Friday we were very concerned, not only was he covered in ticks and fleas, his pads were ripped to shreds and very swollen, but most worrying he was unable to stand up.

Amazingly 72 hours later we see a different dog, what a recovery Alfred has made. He is negative for Leishmania, filaria and ehrlichia, has his passport and is ready to travel.
