Some years ago I met a small galga who was rehabilitated by Paul and April Carrier of Alpha Dog School, Rota, Cadiz – sadly victims of the recession. This galga had been confined to a small cage during her puppyhood to such an extent that she had curvature of the spine, resulting in a skippy walk – hence her name of Skippy. She was unsurprisingly a happy little galga in spite of her maltreatment as a puppy.
Here is another example of maltreatment, this time a little podenco. Here is the story of Nino, a small podenco found malnourished, abused and abandoned in Cadiz
‘We’re more than tired of people who abandon their pets, but more so those who see animals only as objects of hunting, abused and finally abandoned. This is what happened to Nino. This afternoon (04 04 2011) an acquaintance has brought us a bag of bones which we have named Nino, frozen with fear, eyes wide and shaking and of course, no microchip.
He was found in the middle of the road, the guy had to stop traffic. Nino’s malnutrition was so bad he had difficulty walking. He is about 5 or 6 kilos, about 2 years old. Watch the video of him, even with his fear and desperate state, he has a wag in his tail for a kind voice!
Can anyone help with a foster or adoptive home for him? Contact: huellasgaditanas@hotmail.com (Put in the Message Subject: Nino)
