  • How long should a dog be left alone?

Dogs are pack animals, they prefer company, whether it is another dog, cat or human.  Many suffer from separation anxiety.  We have always had more than one dog, although now we are down to just one and take her with us most places we go.

So how long should a dog reasonably be expected to be left alone.

  • Podenca Coco hoping for a forever home.

Our 12 year old podenca Coco is such a gem. She is sweet and great with other dogs. Towards people she can be a bit shy. Who would like to give this oldie a chance? After 12 years of hunting and having puppies, her last years should be spend on someone’s sofa. She has now gained weight and will be sterilised soon.

Her suitcases are packed in the hope someone will give this sweet podenca a comfy rest of life.

Some people found an injured and dying young woman in a trash bin inside a bag.  The little dog was found casually by a volunteer from the Noah’s Ark protective association, who managed to save her life and has reported the case to the Civil Guard. Events took place in Granadilla
The story of Hannah, a Podencian puppy, is so frightening that it’s hard to believe she had a favorable outcome. The little dog was found badly injured and on the verge of death inside a bag in a garbage container in the neighborhood of Atogo, in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, in the south of Tenerife.

The case has already been reported to the Civil Guard and is in the hands of the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA), which has opened an investigation to try to identify the author of the events, as explains to @planeta_canario the manager of the Noah’s Ark Protective Association, Beautiful Gallinat. • 70 hunting dogs desperately needing to find rescue shelters

    No photo description available.

Yet another sad example of the horrors endured by Spain’s hunting dogs because there is no law to protect them.

The 6 month old puppies arrived from Alentejo this week.  They were brought to Tiny Shelter by the very kind Municipal vet of Alentejo, herself. They are lovely dogs and clearly so excited to be in a new place …away from the CHAOTIC AWFUL PLACE where they lived…
All have small cuts and sores, proof that they had to fight for food , but apart from that, they are lovely ,happy, GRATEFUL puppies, excitedly smelling and investigating everything. He immediately vaccinated them , gave them very good puppy food and toys.  These are some of the lucky ones, already removed … close to 20 have been removed…there are 50 left! (more…)

  • Jaen, Spain – a hellhole for these podencos

Horrible what they’ve lived through, tied with short chains, all full of poop, a horrible smell and them, six bitches and a puppy, with ticks and fleas. Seprona has acted and we with little space and little means, we could not say NO and we have taken over. Two of them have a chip in the name of the person who had them and of course, he has handed them over, the others are without a chip.

Update 04-01 Three protectors take over all  of them. We are so grateful that our message of help has been heard.. THANK YOU!! and to all of you who spread them.
