Animales Rioja land is now full of water because of the non stop raining. Bea and the rest of the volunteers are taking the dogs to put safe, but they need donations to place them in residences. Many of you will have been following the diary of Zorro, an abandoned podenco taken in by Kate and eventually arriving safely at the home of Bev Farmer. He is now ready for adoption. Here’s what Bev says about this stunning hound.
Zorro was rescued last year. He was only a few months old. Kate discovered him being chased by three cars, trying to run him over. At the time she was living in a tent on a camp site and it was very difficult trying to keep him there but she persevered.

Two tall Podencos. Black and white is male, less than 18 months old, loving and handsome. Red and white is female, also about year and a half, very loving also. It shows that they have lived together, they play with each other as if they’ve known each other for a long time.

I received an appeal from Dominique to save yet two more podencos in Valencia perrera. They were taken in a few days ago by their owners on CESE – which is ‘fast track to killing’! Before I had time to publish them, one had already been killed!

I am sickened and cannot imagine the mindset of the bastard who took this little bitch in to be killed – with a belly full of puppies! Do they kill her before she has the puppies or after?!! Makes you wonder.
Meet Cleo, a small Podenca Andaluz, who has also suffered at the hands of the Spanish hunters. Luckily, she has now found her forever place of safety, in France with Djimba. Betty tells her story.
‘As of so many of her kind, the history of Cleo is unknown but also not hard to imagine. Born In the wild, taking care of herself, not kindly treated by humans.
At the beginning of 2012 I received an email from a friend in Barcelona – did I know a solution for a little podenca with an extreme fear of humans? Djimba is a home for old, ill or handicapped dogs and Cleo was none of these. However in the last 13 years we have had a lot of experience with traumatized dogs and her little face touched us.
Heartbreak for podencos in Badajoz, Cordoba and Valencia. The first heartbreak is this mom Podenca Ibicenco and her puppy, in Valencia perrera for killing.
