Animales Rioja – podencos desperately needing foster and forever homes
Further to the appeal from Animales Rioja for donations to pay for kennel fees now they have had to move their 70 dogs into kennels, below are the lovely podencos which they rescued from the perrera. Pilar says ‘they were rescued by our organization many months ago, but we have not enough money to feed them or pay vet fees because we have no association helping us – our only income is adoption money. That’s why we need the dogs to find families and for Podencos it is so difficult!
These two above are Pele and Mele, brothers, Podenco Maneto – which is a small type, dachshund size and shape. Lugo (1st below) is also a Podenco Maneto. Order below is Lugo, Eyes, Tita, Paula, Risi and Toby – all young dogs with a long life ahead of them.

Animales Rioja refuge flooded out, please donate to pay for dogs to go in kennels
Animales Rioja land is now full of water because of the non stop raining. Bea and the rest of the volunteers are taking the dogs to put safe, but they need donations to place them in residences. Podenco Zorro – can you offer him that special forever home?
Many of you will have been following the diary of Zorro, an abandoned podenco taken in by Kate and eventually arriving safely at the home of Bev Farmer. He is now ready for adoption. Here’s what Bev says about this stunning hound.
Zorro was rescued last year. He was only a few months old. Kate discovered him being chased by three cars, trying to run him over. At the time she was living in a tent on a camp site and it was very difficult trying to keep him there but she persevered.

Cost of saving a Valencia perrera podenco

Basic costs for all dogs to leave the perrera = 62 euro = release fee.
transport is 30 euro when the dog has to travel ouside Valencia region,for some foster homes and for the residence – a total of 92 euros -
Valencia Perrera – 3 more young podencos on death row!
Young podenca, extremely shy, shows panic in her eyes, about eighteen months old.
Two tall Podencos. Black and white is male, less than 18 months old, loving and handsome. Red and white is female, also about year and a half, very loving also. It shows that they have lived together, they play with each other as if they’ve known each other for a long time.

Valencia perrera – pregnant podenco bitch due to be killed!!
I received an appeal from Dominique to save yet two more podencos in Valencia perrera. They were taken in a few days ago by their owners on CESE – which is ‘fast track to killing’! Before I had time to publish them, one had already been killed!
Here is a photo of the second one, very close to whelping.

Do they kill her before she has the puppies or after?!! Makes you wonder.

Podenca Andaluz Cleo – in her forever with Foundation Djimba
Meet Cleo, a small Podenca Andaluz, who has also suffered at the hands of the Spanish hunters. Luckily, she has now found her forever place of safety, in France with Djimba. Betty tells her story.
‘As of so many of her kind, the history of Cleo is unknown but also not hard to imagine. Born In the wild, taking care of herself, not kindly treated by humans.
At the beginning of 2012 I received an email from a friend in Barcelona – did I know a solution for a little podenca with an extreme fear of humans? Djimba is a home for old, ill or handicapped dogs and Cleo was none of these. However in the last 13 years we have had a lot of experience with traumatized dogs and her little face touched us.
