Podenco Zorro – can you offer him that special forever home?

Zorro 2 250 1 2013Many of you will have been following the diary of Zorro, an abandoned podenco taken in by Kate and eventually arriving safely at the home of Bev Farmer. He is now ready for adoption. Here’s what Bev says about this stunning hound.

Zorro was rescued last year. He was only a few months old. Kate discovered him being chased by three cars, trying to run him over. At the time she was living in a tent on a camp site and it was very difficult trying to keep him there but she persevered.

Zorro was terrified of people. However she gained his trust and they became inseparable and had a mutual love for each other. Sadly, Kate’s health is not good and she decided to find a new home for him.

Zorro head 250 1 2013She first contacted Beryl at Podenco Post to ask for assistance. Many offers of help were given and arrangements were made to collect him the first week in December. It didn’t go well and he managed to escape from the people who went for him, thankfully he found his way home the next morning.

After that Kate believed that Zorro was destined to remain with her for ever and was making plans for his care when she would no longer be here. After some very emotional phone calls and emails she finally made the very difficult decision to let Zorro come to me and a 1200 km round journey was necessary to collect him.

She is heart broken that she is too ill to keep him, and I have made her a promise we will find him the most special home.

He is good with other dogs but not cats, a little timid with new people but slowly he is gaining confidence and is quite the cheeky chap. He’s now 11 months old.

He is a little podenco on 45 cm and 10 kilos so wouldn’t take up much space. He has all his vaccinations, passport, tested negative for Leishmania, Filaria, Ehrlichia, Babesia, and has been castrated.

Would you like to give this little guy that special home? email: podencofriends@hotmail.co.uk

Delighted to say that Zorro has a forever home. He is being adopted by a British couple living in Murcia only an hour’s drive from Bev, who has been caring for him. and they are also adopting pod/galgo x Amelia with him. Wonderful. So Bev will be able to keep in touch with them both.
