Podencos at Pepis Dog Refuge, Pedrera, Seville – donate to spaying and adoption please
These beautiful podencos are with Pepis Dog Refuge, Pedrera, Seville. They have been waiting too long for their forever homes, some of them for years! They have their passports but all need spaying/neutering and blood tests. Please contact Jane Brian if you would like to adopt one. Spaying costs 110 euros, castration 60 euros, blood tests 47 euros. To get all the dogs done will cost 2216 euros. Donate here to pay for these ops.

Update on Podenca Libby’s pups with SOS Animals
You will remember my appeal for help for podenca Libby and her 5 pups living in a cave and being fed by an Englishman living nearby. After he had to return to the UK (no choice in the matter) a local lady volunteer with SOS Animals stepped in. Libby and one of her pups are adopted by Vincent and a friend, the other 4 pups are growing fast with SOS Animals.
Thanks to your generosity along with others, enough money was raised towards vaccinations for the pups. Rescuer Sue has this update.
‘Big Bang Theory has provided the inspiration for the names for our four playful sibling puppies…meet (left to right) Howard, Penny, Leonard and Sheldon. They love each other very much. Penny is already reserved for a home in the UK when her papers are ready for travel.’

This young podenco is in the municipal pound in Caceres, southern Spain. He has a front leg injury which urgently needs veterinary attention. He’s terrified…look at his eyes! Poor soul. Podenco Canario Louis…now safe and on the road to recovery
This is Louis found wandering alone in the northern region of Lanzarote. He is about 1 to 2 years old, really friendly but very thin.. But rather than him go to the perrera, they have agreed for him to go directly to Laura Johnson of the Kennel Klub so he will get all the care he needs straight away. Aas always we have to wait 21 days in the event his owner comes forward, but once that expires we can make plans for him to come over to us in Murcia and he will be available for adoption.

Lucas and Maya – 2 lucky podencos sharing a forever home.
This is the story of how someone who had never heard of podencos is now the proud adoptant of 2! Jude tells the story.
We adopted Lucas, our Podenco Maneto, in 2012 through Podenco SOS. We’d made the decision to get a dog a while before and wanted to adopt a rescue dog rather than buy from a breeder or a pet shop. We’d been in a lot of contact with the RSPCA and the Dogs Trust but they weren’t able to rehome any of the dogs in their care with us and we ended up on a waiting list.
My wife, Seiko, found out about podencos and the wonderful rescue organisations online. I’d never heard of podencos before! We enquired with Podenco SOS about a few of the dogs that they’d put on their facebook page but they’d all just been found homes. They suggested we visit Lucas, a Podenco Maneto, who was with a foster family in Surrey, a short drive from our home in Brighton.
