These two podencos were abandoned on a building site in Almeria. Appeals went round and Bev Farmer of Podenco Friends said she would have room – as 4 dogs were leaving to go to their forever homes. But Almeria is a long drive from Alicante so she arranged with the young rescuer to meet up part way.
Bev says. ‘Early start tomorrow after making sure our four are safely on their way on the transport taking them to their forever homes. Then we will be driving down to Almeria to get these 2 Podencos left abandoned in a construction site.’
Bev and Warren got the two podencos safely back to home base. Here’s what Bev writes about their rescuer.
This Is Antonio Mgo with one of the Podencos from yesterday. Earlier this week a post appeared about the 2 Podencos abandoned so at 2am in the morning I sent a message to the contact name for info.
I had a reply from Antonio asking me many questions where would I take the dogs, would they be taken to a vet, would they be sterilsed, if they are adopted do I check on the new owners etc etc.
So I am thinking ‘this is very responsible person that cares about the welfare of the dogs’.
So arrangements were made to go yesterday. Then I get a message that Antonio has been able to catch the Podencos and arrange some transport and can meet us halfway, which was a great help and reduced out journey by 250 kms.
All this from a 16 year old Spanish boy who I find out helps with the rescue of many animals. This morning he has been in touch to ask how the Podencos are. With young people like this, there is hope for the future.’
These two have now been named Dallas and Neo. If you would like to apply to adopt any of Bev’s fabulous podencos – many trained on recal and agility – contact Bev. She also needs funds to pay for their vet passport, blood tests etc. Paypal to her email address podencofriends@hotmail.co.uk .
I’d have them all if I could afford it!! It was heaven, surrounded by all their beautiful hounds!
So here we introduce
