This is Tanke, she is a female Podenco Andaluz dog about 10 years old. She is educated, really lovely and obedient.

She was found battered and abandoned 2 weeks ago in Cordoba (Spain). When we found her, she had a huge wound where the microchip was before. Now she is cured…..but during the veterinary examination, it was discovered that she has crystalline sclerosis and retinal atrophy, so she will lose sight gradually.

We are getting money in our faculty because she also has 3 breast tumors, therefore, she needs surgery (in total 2 surgeries; the first to remove the masses of the 4 and 5 right breast and the second for the 5 left breast) and at the same time she is going to be castrated.

This Tuesday (23/10 2012), if we have enough money, we will start with the pre-operative and the first surgery.

She lived with me for two weeks when we found her, but I can not have animals in my flat because one of my flatmates doesn’t like animals. Now Tanke lives with a college friend who also has another dog and a cat in his flat. She was a little afraid at first but now she can not live without other animals.

The great problem is that we cannot retain her, we are not self-supporting. We desperately need a foster and adopting family for her, especially to help her recover from her operation.
