  • University Vet Students lend a hand in Cordoba

    Tanke street 10 2012 250Laura writes from Cordoba. ‘We are some students of veterinary medicine in Cordoba (Spain) and 2 weeks ago we found an old female podenco here. This is the story……..please help us:

    This is Tanke, she is a female Podenco Andaluz dog about 10 years old. She is educated, really lovely and obedient.

    She was found battered and abandoned 2 weeks ago in Cordoba (Spain). When we found her, she had a huge wound where the microchip was before. Now she is cured…..but during the veterinary examination, it was discovered that she has crystalline sclerosis and retinal atrophy, so she will lose sight gradually.

  • Where to stay in Seville! Cheap accommodation!

    Podenca mama 190 Seville 2 2 2012Seville area, can anyone save this podenca bitch and her 2 puppies. She’s in an area where there is garbage dumped, and dogs, dead from cold and hunger. Please has anyone room to take them temporarily or longer, otherwise they too will probably die from hunger and cold. The sender of the appeal is already full to bursting.   • Podenca Andaluz Lucy – abandoned in Malaga, forever in Holland

    Lucy Malaga airport 250 2 25 1 2012Little Podenca Andaluz Lucy was rescued by Susanna from the side of a railway track. She suffered serious injury from being attacked by a larger dog, but has made a marvellous recovery, thanks to the work of 112carlotagalgos and Paco, their vet. Podencoworld in Holland had an offer of a foster home for Lucy and on 25th January, Lucy and four other lucky podencos flew from Malaga airport to Holland. Because Lucy only weight 8 kilos, she went as ‘hand luggage’!

    Here are some photos of Lucy at the airports, including Susanna, her rescuer, and a lovely video of her playing in her foster home, the day after her arrival. Good luck Lucy, you will soon find your forever family.

  • Help this little Podenca Andaluz in Seville

    Macu podenca 1 250 12 2011Podenco Andaluz come in 3 sizes, small, medium and large! I have a small, Bebe, she is pocket sized but has THE biggest personality and keeps 5 galgos in order!

    Here’s another very young podenca, now named Conchi-Pepa/Tecla, abandoned, pregnant by a bigger dog. After the puppies, she has been sterlised. She has recovered well from the operation and is in a foster home. But Macu needs help to pay the vet fees, and she desperately needs to find this little podenca her forever home. If you can offer a forever home, please contact Macu. She does an amazing job, keeps these innocent souls at home, or in foster, until someone comes along and can take them.   • Podenca Andaluz Lucy – rescued in Malaga – looking for her forever family

    Lucy 1 Charl 11 2011 250This is a little Podenca Andaluz, the smallest of the type and the same as my little Bebe. Little dogs with huge personalities. This little lady was rescued from a train track in Malaga and taken to 112carlotagalgos. Here’s her story.

    ‘Meet Little Lucy. Rescued from a train track last Wednesday. A tiny tiny figure of a podenca. She has erect ears and is the sweetest little dollop of sugar! She is minute, and full of love. Easy to scoop up in your arms and she loves being held like a baby.

  • Seville – Podenca Andaluz Mandarina needs your help

    Mandarina 1 300 Barbara lafrance 11 2011This little lady is Mandarina, a small Podenca Andaluz abandoned in Seville, like so many other dogs. Luckily she was rescued and taken to a refuge. Sadly after a few weeks, she had a bad idea! She got herself into an enclosure with several very large dogs, mastins, and was badly attacked. She is only 12 kilos, just the size of my little Bebe, and she was lucky not to be killed by the dogs.

    Luckily the volunteers heard the commotion and rescued her, but you can see from the photos that little Mandarina suffered badly. She was rushed to the vet clinic, fearing that she had internal injuries but, happily, this was not the case, she simply needed her wounds treating and stitching. She is now recovering at the home of a volunteer, Beatriz.
