Holidays on Lanzarote – visit SARA Protectora and the podencos

SARA Protectora shelter on Lanzarote in the Canary Islands work very hard to help abandoned dogs and cats, especially podencos. Here is a list of some more of these fabulous dogs, desperately waiting for homes on mainland Europe, which is their only hope of a life outside of the shelter. As I keep saying, these dogs make fabulous companions, Pets as Therapy dogs, agility dogs – if adopted young. And are extremely loyal. Please give them a chance.

FITO – Submissive and nervous, very kind. Needs somebody who gives him security and love. He doesn’t pull on the lead and is now beginning slowly to become more confident when outside.

Cachorros BRAILE – (see photo above) Very submissive and very frightened. When you take him for a walk at the begin he needs help to start. When he decides to walk, he is getting than little by little calmed. He is very sweet and affectionate. He’s obedient and watches you all the time. Sometimes he’s also nervous of other dogs.

KASIOPEA – She’s quite submissive, she used to be afraid but she’s been slowly losing the fear. She doesn’t pull the leash, with some dogs growls a bit but she doesn’t fight. With people is very affectionate.

DOVE – Fairly dominant. He’s barking often but by walking gets quieter, quite laid back otherwise. Friendly with people, curious and playful with other dogs.

AMOR – He gets very nervous in the kennel and is fairly dominant with other males, but you can relax him by walking. He needs somebody with character who would know how to manage him and give him love and security.

LORENZO – He’s a very cuddly and obedient podenco. He doesn’t pull the leash by walking. Is very playful and gets well on with other dogs.

These descriptions have been given by a volunteer at the kennels whose native tongue is not English, so please allow for this when considering one of these dogs to adopt.

I would not set foot on Spanish land on holiday but am giving serious consideration on going to lanzarote just for the purpose of spending time with these dogs and taking any supplies they may need. As I have said on here before I adore all dogs and animals but since having the pleasure of owning a podenco my heart is well and truly with them.

ik was begin jauari in Lanzarote en ik heb Ann ontmoet uit zweden ze heeft een zwerf hondje uit Lanzarote maar kan niet voor haar zorgen. Nu wil ik het hondje naar Nederland halen maar hoe moet ik dat doen?
Ann kan het hondje op het vliegtuig zetten en ik kan het weer ophalen in Amsterdam maar hoe krijg ik dat hondje zij heet Flicka
door de douane zonder begeleider met vriendelijk Jolanda Middendorp
