SARA Lanzarote, Canary Islands. The only hope for podencos in their shelter is for them to be adopted in mainland Europe. These are beautiful dogs who deserve a life in a forever home. Please take a look at them. If they are not adopted, they will spend the rest of their lives in the shelter. The dogs are listed in alphabetical order, and their photos run in the same way. I would add that the descriptions say that they may hunt – but then again, what type of dog would not ‘hunt’ if a cat or deer ran past its nose?!
Cachorro Braile: He has been handed into our shelter by his owner on the 29th of november 2008, when he was only 2 months old. He is a very friendly dog with everybody, but in the same time very shy. If you take him out for a walk you need to force him at the start, but after a while he relaxes and enjoys it and is always looking out for the person with him. He is not interested in hunting.
Delga: She was found on the 20th of August 2008. Her age we guess on the 01.01.2003. She a very nice and friendly dog. She likes to run and play and is very activ. She can even go off the lead, she will run around but always keep an eye on the person that’s with her. She gets along well with other dogs
Fito: He was found on the 14th of october 2008. His age we guess on 15.08.2008. He is a very shy dog, but as well always looks out for love. He needs someone that gives him security and love and care. He doesn’t pull in the lead and after a while walking him he calms down and looses his frightness. He is very sweet.
Rodrigo: He is with us since the 24th of march 2007. He was found and is now about 6 years old. He is nice to walk, doesn’t pull much in the lead. But if he gets the chance to hunt he would do so. He is doing good with other dogs and likes people
Sun Beach: He found on the 13th of December 2008 and he is now about 3 years old. He seems to have a lot of hunting instinct. He is a nervous dog and it needs a while to get him relaxed. He is very friendly with other dogs.
Vicenta: She was found on the 14th of June 2006, her age we guess on 01.07.2005
She has got quiet a bit of hunting instinct, but she is very friendly and sweet. She doesn’t pull much in the lead when you walk her and she loves to get attention and be between lots of people. She does as well get along very well with other dogs.
