These absolutely beautiful galgos are on the Canary Island of Lanzarote. They are in the good care of the refuge SARA Lanzarote. Their only hope of a forever life outside of these kennels – they don't put a dog down – is to be adopted on mainland Europe and in the UK. These particular podencos will be travelling to the UK in June 2011 when their passports are clear, and will be in the kennels of Rick and Lesley Beauchamp in Leicestershire. There is another dog coming over in fact we chose him to “specification” but the gentleman who put in the request has gone pretty quiet on the subject. Therefore I think he may be available too, he’s an absolute stunner and one that I’d like to use to advertise the breed.
When you have one of these dogs you get stopped every time that you walk them by people asking questions and we capitalise on this wherever we can. The dog is called Lelo(CIM0639), from memory he’s about 18 months and seems a really nice chap( they all are) if he’s of interest I’ll find out a bit more and take some time out with him when we visit in the Spring . ‘She’s lovely’ smiled Laura, she was right. Beautifully marked and constructed this slight little girl stole our hearts!
Easy to walk, lovely personality intelligent and eager to please. Be warned though if you take this little girl into your home it will literally take hours to walk her because people will stop you every 100 yards to admire her.

Jorge has been in SARA for too long and needs a forever home. We sought him out recently because his name kept on appearing on the Sara lists and it seemed that our paths ought to cross.
What a great chap he is,a nice large brown and white dog with folded ears. A fabulous temperament, good to walk on his lead, loves fuss and attention and we think that he will make someone a great companion and faithful friend. The bit of him that isn’t Podenco blends beautifully into the Poddy personality to create a really nice type of dog with good looks personality and relatively easy nature.

‘Dobby’ is the last one of the litter of pups which were admitted when very young. We have re-housed two of the litter and they have made superb, much loved pets.
Dobby was initially overlooked by us because he was separated from his siblings. Once we realised that there was still a member of the litter remaining we sought him out and what a wonderful dog we discovered,A really affable chap with fabulous large ears, really stunning to look at with a ‘goofy’ nature just like his brothers. Furthermore if he follows his brothers in other ways he won’t be a jumper or an escape artist! A wonderful boy, waiting for a home.
