So many of the Spanish hate the treatment of hunting dogs by the galgueros and gitanos and here is another example of the outrage they feel. Podenca murdered in Motril
We want justice and that our complaint does not fall on deaf ears. For this reason, have organized a protest at the gates of the Government delegation in Granada on Saturday 25 May at 12 in the morning.

Podencos Jazzy and Mocha – run free
Enjoy this video of Mocha and Jazzy, two of Bev Farmer’s podencos running free on a beach in Murcia. Bev has marvellous training skills, her foster podencos are probably some of the best trained rescued podencos you will come across. I so wish we could let our galgos and podenco run free like this. But we have 40 acres of grass meadows with rabbits, hares, deer, wild boar, buzzards, herons…we dare not for one minute let them run free. Motril, Spain – please sign the petition to protest about shooting dogs
Your support is urgently needed, please sign this petition to protest about the farmers in Motril shooting podencos.
Here is the story about this poor podenca. She didn’t survive – somewhere in the area there is another one, shot and injured.
This is a translation of the story as posted by a lady who tried to help save the podenca. This happened In Motril in Southern Spain a podenco wandered in to a finca looking for food Her punishment, she was shot in the head, leg and chest and lost her life. I found this soul destroying.

Training a Podenco – superb Obedience and Agility Dogs
I can’t emphasise enough what fabulous hounds podencos are; marvellous companion dogs and, if you get a young one, easy to train and marvellous agility dogs (they are very popular in agility competitions in Germany especially). Bev Farmer fosters podencos and works hard on training them for forever homes. Here’s a great video which illustrates just how well podencos respond to training.
