28th May 2012 – Podencas Angela and Trini – from Spain to the USA

UK alert – the Bullas Babes are arriving –
4 of the Bullas Babes, podencos rescued in the Orhuela, Bullas, project, have now arrived in the UK. Terri and Star, Molly and Ella have all been adopted and are now with their forever families. We wish them well in their new life, flying the flag for the podencos and alerting people to the cruelty perpetrated against these fabulous hounds. Thanks to Little Pod Foundation in Murcia and SOS Animals UK. Well done to all.

Save this podenco in SPA Carcassone, France – saved!
Urgent appeals received from a French contact.
‘I am looking for help for a Podenco who is currently in the SPA in Carcassonne. They are a breed very close to my heart since we rescued one from Spain two years ago, who had been very badly beaten, and we have managed to bring back her joy to live and we adore her – she will never leave us till her life is done!
I have too many rescue dogs here at home (12) to be able to help Snoop, the Podenco in Carcassonne SPA, but I’m desperate for him to find a foster home because he’s ill and needs help to recover.

SARA Protectora, Lanzarote, Canary Islands – saving the podencos
Great Day for the podencos at the SARA Protectora, Lanzarote, Canary Islands. The only chance of a forever home for these fabulous hounds is on mainland Europe. Some are already in the UK waiting for homes, others find homes in Germany. Please give them a chance.

Gerena, Seville – abandoned podenco desperately needs help
This podenco is on the outskirts of Gerena, Seville. It’s about 12 kg and very young, is wounded in its neck by the wide collar on it, which has a bell!. It’s huddling under these large sones out of the heat. Scared, it hides in the hush when approached. There is a girl putting food out to try and gain its trust – she’s called the dog Campanillo. An extra problem, if he can’t be caught soon, is that he will grow and the collar will cut into the flesh of its neck.
