  • Adorable Podenco Pup Heidi – waiting for her forever family

    Betty Heidi 190Heidi is an adorable young podenco pup from Spain who has been in France for 4 months now, where she is in foster with Betty, who describes her character.

    She is a bundle of joy and happiness, full of energy. She loves to play all day with the other foster dogs Kai (Bodeguero 2 years) and Rosa (galga 2 years). Therefore she needs a home with another playful dog. She also loves to run and needs a fenced garden. She can jump quite high so the fence must be at least 1,50m.

    She loves her cuddles and to sleep next to you. She is very intelligent and needs mental challenges (dog games, agility, obedience). Due to her background she is shy towards people she doesn’t know and therefore the family that adopts her must have patience with her.

  • Carina, a podenca with Podenco Friends, Murcia – adopt Carina

    When I was with Bev and Warren of Podenco Friends last September 2013, although I loved all the podencos, Carina won a special place in my heart. I really wanted to bring her home to me forever, but with 4 galgos and a very bossy little podenca, I really couldn’t afford to take on another dog – vet fees, feed, tick treatment …you know how it goes, especially on small pensions.

    so let me introduce you to the absolutely adorable Carina, a beautiful video. There must be someone who has a place in their home and heart for this gorgeous podenca. Contact Bev if you can help Carina.

  • Meet The Motril Posse podenco pups – some of the lucky ones

    This video was made possible by Xari Shepherd….who highlighted the plight of these Podenco pups in Motril… only 4 of the original 6 pups could be caught and rescued… the mother and two other pups like many Podencos in Spain have little or no chance of experiencing the Motril Posses’ future of living in a loving home environment… Beverley Podencos introduced us to our first Podenco called Inca …..and we found out at first hand how amazing this breed can be in a home environment.

  • Podencos – A national treasure or just trash?

    What is about Podencos that incite such passion for them….. for me I see beauty nobility intelligence a creature so unique and magical, those who have adopted one will understand how special and sensitive they are. These should be the national treasure of Spain to be held in reverence to be proud of…. such a truly magnificent creature they should be recognized has part of the national heritage of Spain for they date back to 3000 BC. Yet daily we receive more and reports of Podencos abused, abandoned handed in to Perreras.

  • Podenca Honey on Lanzarote – deserves her forever family

    KennelKlub Honey 250 9 2014HONEY – why doesn’t this gorgeous girl have a home yet??? She is 1 year old and such a special lady! Heaps of fun, loves to run and play but also loves to cuddle and kiss. She is very intelligent and gets on great with everyone. She walks perfectly on the lead, so much so that even the tiny volunteers can take her out for a walk. A minimal amount of training and this girl will be an absolute dream!

  • Podenca Willow in Seville – another victim of abuse

    Ellie Willow 2 250Badly abused and left tied to a tree, here is little Willow the podenco.

    She has been to the vets and is undergoing treatment for her injuries, skin condition etc.

    She is calm and loving which is unbelievable given what she has gone through. Very young and in Seville.

    We urgently need a foster home offer or adoption

  • ANUA – rescuing Rosi – needing help

    Rosi ANUA 9 2014 250The Spanish hounds are incredible survivors. Here’s a tale of one, who now sadly needs help, a Podenco Ibicenco named Rosi.

    ‘Rosi, an abandoned dog but with luck, a girl daily has been carrying the water and food, feeding Rosi other 4 dogs.

    Every day for a year, when she heard the noise of the vehicle of the girl, Rosi came to meet, making leaps of joy, but everything changed two days ago, Rosi was not in place, Rosi didn’t make an appearance, the girl was expected the worst and so it has been.

  • Valencia – P.E.P.A. at work on the streets

    PEPA Bonnie and pups 250 26 8 2014PEPA rescues many podencos from Valencia province, Rosemary Macdonald tells the story of Bonnie.

    ‘This is Bonnie who was in danger of having her puppies on the streets of Valencia. Now less than a week later here she is the proud mum of seven at the moment healthy pups. We have been given promises of help with these puppies so I hope everyone helps us as we will need foster for them in about 5-6 weeks.’

  • Podenco Maneto – big characters in small bodies – looking for forever homes

    Maria Vidal Chika and Koka 250Maria Vidal writes about two beautiful podencos she has in foster, who need forever homes.

    ‘I write from Málaga to ask your help. I need to find this two dogs a forever home, can you help me? (sorry if I make too many mistakes, my English is not very good)

    These are Chicha (light brown) and Koka (brown and white). They are two young female dogs that were abandoned and ill-treated by a hunter. They were born in some kind of puppy mill that breed Manetos (a mutation of the Podenco with shorter paws created in Andalucia), they have the marks that the breeders tattooed on the ears of the dogs so everyone can know where they were bought (it’s the brand). They were sold to a man that taught them to hunt. He left them into a garage and only took them out in hunting season and used them to give birth new puppies twice a year. A couple of years later he decided to abandon the older one, Koka, so he cut her neck, took the microchip out and left her on the street, but then, Chicha ran as fast as she could to escape too. We don’t know how desperate she had to be as to leave her own puppies behind and run away.
