  • Little Pod Association, Murcia – saving the podencos

Little Pod gypsy 170 2 2015Little Pod Association are working with a Spanish volunteer to help podencos and galgos in a terrible situation with a gitano in Murcia. Here is what Marie Stacey says about the situation, including the current rescue of 3 more dogs in a terrible state.

‘Our beautiful Verity and Diana were both resuced from a Gypsie in Valencia. We knew he had more dogs and a lovely lady has been working hard to get some more of the dogs released. He has just agreed to release 3 more. We are desperately trying to secure the release of another that looks really ill but at the moment he is saying no.

  • Portuguese Podenco – looking for his forever home – urgent before he is killed

Portuguese Pod Hippi 250 1 2015This little chap is Hippi, a Portuguese Podengo on death row in Olivenza Perrera. He really needs to be rescued and found a home. This type of Podengo is not as common as the Ibizan and Andaluz, so it would be good to get him.

Hippi is about 1 – 1.5 yrs old, stuck in the over full kill pound at Olivenza – I have his release fee 30€ donated already, but no where to take him to for foster/adoption…he gets along well with the other dogs he has had contact with at the pound and is a friendly dog, if somewhat scared in current circumstance – have to get him out in the next 10 days…the pound is over flowing 🙁

Contact me if anyone can help.

  • All Podencos should enjoy life

From Bev Farmer of Podenco Friends, Murcia

This video is to say thank you to everyone for believing in us and allowing us to realise our dream. A year of a thousand tears and a million smiles. Times when we were overwhelmed and it all felt too much…. then those magic moments when anything seemed possible. So many of you have reached out and helped in so many ways without you we could not have achieved so much for this forgotten breed of Spain.

Together we saved so many … together we gave them a future. We will never ever be to able to express how grateful we are to each and every one who supported us

  • Only a few days left to help these podenco puppies

    From Stef Spode

My organisation North West action for Animals have been asked by local independent rescue EDDAC to help raise the vital finding needed to help these Podenco puppies get to the UK from a high Kill pound in Spain by 16th January. They have effectively been dumped on the rescue and not wanting to turn their back on these pups, together we need to raise a whopping £1100! Please please help if you can. We only have a few days left. The puppies also need foster and forever homes.
