‘Here we go again… The Gypsy in Valencia is expecting a visit from authorities and will ‘get rid’ of 2 more dogs before they arrive. THEY ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF HELP!!!! The first dog is chained to a wall 24/7 with a horse next to her. She is unable to get up. The second dog is kept in a crate.
So now we have them! Please officially meet Phoenix and Lolly
First and foremost we must thank Lorraine Edwards at Lozzas Podenco Rescue who committed to helping Lolly without any information, just a picture and a plea for help.
So updates on the girls starting with Lolly. Lolly is actually not in too bad a condition, she can’t have been there long that’s for sure. She is (amazingly) negative for all Mediterranean diseases, but she does have a small fatty lump on her back which will be removed when she is spayed. She is holding up one of her back legs but it seems to be due to a pad rather than a serious injury… it seems to be caused by not moving a lot until the last couple of days. She is completely stunning and when ready will make her way to the UK to Lozzas.
Phoenix unfortunately is in a real state…. It takes a lot to shock me these days but this poor sweet girl…the pictures speak for themselves really. She is positive for Ehrlichia Ana Plasma but is negaitive for Filaria and Leishmania. Although we haven’t been able to find mites on her skin she must have them (they are difficult to find), so as a precaution we are treating both girls for this as they have been together and they are now in quarantine up at the Finca with Janette and Anotonio.
She is lame in her back right leg and holding it up but Eduardo cannot find a serious injury, it could be painful for not using it for so long after being chained to a wall for who know how long. She has a huge tumor that needs to be removed but an operation is just not possible at this time.
Her faeces show us she has only been eating straw so we have started her on a really good puppy food to help her gain some weight and delicately encourage her digestion system to start functioning. She is just skin and bone at the moment, but I know Janette will soon change this, she doesn’t have skinny dogs. Once she has regained some health and weight we will book her in to be spayed and remove the tumor.
She is such a sweet girl, you just cannot understand how someone can do this. Thank you to everybody who has donated towards her treatment and sent messages and well wishes for her.
We must say a huge thank you to the wonderful lady that has the horrible task of dealing directly with the gypsy involved. It’s a job we could never do and although we keep her anonymous on FB she knows who she is and she is an angel.

He has regular visits from Seprona and the Guardia… they make him give up any they think are ill but he has around 30-40 dogs. They are getting stricter with him but i think he is only giving these up because he knows they look bad
Some people in Valencia are trying to deal with him but if he is denounced any further he won’t allow anymore dogs to leave and he’ll get rid of them himself. It’s a catch 22 at the moment, He is having regular visits but each time if gives up some he just obtains more. Hopefully the cycle will come to a breaking point but in the meantime all we can do is take those he alows to leave
He’s a hoarder, They think he is breeding some of them but there is never any puppies there when they visit. He does sell some on for hunting purposes but the majority have been there a long time.
The other problem is…what a surprise…he has friends in Seprona!
