Regular readers will know I always mention the refuges in the Canary Islands and the podencos there whose main hope of a forever home is on mainland Europe. Now there is terrible news from of the shelters.
There has been torrential rain in Tenerife and the refuge Tierra Blanca has suffered badly with flooding. If anyone would like to help a podenco to have a shelter from the elements, below is more information and an translation from María Isabel Padilla Peraza vet and manager of Tierra blanca.
We currently have over 130 Podencos in our patio area , an open area that has been devastated by rain. Right now we are constructing the area , but besides building costs we need funds to buy shelters.
We estimate that 10 shelters per animal will be enough for all of them . Sponsoring a dog will keep them protected from the elements.
To do this simply donate 10 euros into our bank account with the name of the dog that you want to sponsor from our album. We will send you a sponsorship card so you will know what your donation has been spent on. (I can’t show you the dogs as they are only on facebook! So please just say – donation for a kennel)

Please help us.This year we have collected over 80 podencos and these dogs are not easy to home, although they can and do make lovely pets. We want to have the best quality of life possible for these dogs.
Please adopt a podenco into your life – especially from the Canary Islands.

I will absolutely donate 10 euros. Not sure about bank transfers, may need to go into my bank to sort it, as I normally donate by PayPal. I can’t adopt a pod at the moment but in the future I would love to and am now aware of the situation in the canary islands.
i cant donate unless they get a pp ad it costs to much to transfer from here to abroad more than donation really no point so i have left a message on their site asking they think about doing a pp ad it would be so much easier and get more donations through
