I’m catching up on posts, as have been away on holiday for a week with my son and grandsons. Here’s a marvellous event which is much needed in the Canary Islands where the podencos have a very hard life, and local people need to know what marvellous pets they can make.

SARA Lanzarote are organising an event on 24th November at Arrecife, and hope that it’s not too late for podenco associations elsewhere and on mainland Spain to organise something at the same time. Here’s the report from SARA Lanzarote.

A few days ago, friends in Gran Canaria contacted with us to propose a challenge to which we said YES!

They have been preparing for the last 5 months or so, with the help of some protectives of Gran Canaria and others in Tenerife and with the co-operation and participation of the players Valeron and Manuel Pablo (former UD players and current players LP A Coruña) and actress Selene Monzón, all admirers and lovers of this breed, a campaign Pro-Podenco!!

They have decided to focus the campaign on the many virtues that the Podencos have as pets, throwing truth at all “cliches” associated with the Podencos, since nothing will have to envy a dalmatian, a golden etc. Something we already have spent some time doing …

We have decided to do so, given the collaboration of the City Council of Arrecife and coinciding with Children’s Day, do this tour on Saturday 24 November, from the Music Kiosk to the Grand Hotel, starting at 16:30.

Come and join, have a look, there are still enough days to mark it on your calendar, for a few hours worthwhile for the Podencos.

We are brothers and unite between the islands by and for them. We will read and write, as in the other islands, to sound stronger what we mean.

We’ll get some of our Podencos to demonstrate their great qualities and make themselves known. You can come with your Podencos or any of his friends and everyone is invited, the more we are, the more you will hear us!

Please note, bring the animals card, as well as bags for depositions and bring a leash to be an example

We are preparing a raffle for everyone attending the event, We have to not only build and Demonstrate that the hounds are perfect pets; that Lanzarote is full of people who love their animals and Share Their Lives with them, come to this event and fill the streets With people and dogs!
