Huesca perrera is, like all the rest in Spain, full to overflowing with abandoned dogs – pedigree dogs (4 English setters), puppies, beautiful xbreeds, alsations, labradors…and some podencos.
This is what the vet at Huesca says. ‘ I am Jose and I work in the kennel in Huesca, We try to find a family or people who sponsor the dogs we have, until they are adopted, so first of all thank your for your concern with the dogs because we need people who want to co-operate and help us.
You can sponsor the dog from 60 € to 80 € per month, it depends in the dog and his feeding and care. This price includes cleaning, food, walks and care. You can also request a blood analysis (Leishmania, Erlichice, Filaria) of your dog. The price is 30€.

Here are the 4 podencos.Photos in order of name below
Popo pictured above is only 1 yeard old,, he’s not even fully grown! He weighs 11 kg, so he’s not going to be a big boy. He is understandably timid, as you can see from his eyes.
Rubio is the next one down, 5 year old male weighing 18 kg. A stunning boy.
Rocky is a pup, only a year old, 13 kg and clearly traumatised by being in the perrera.
Truca is a xpod, again only a year old.
And Majo, also a 1 yrd old xpodenco.

These lovely dogs – and many more – are at risk of their lives because of overcrowding. They badly need help in the way of foster homes/sponsorship/adoption etc.
This perrera in the north east of Spain is ‘off the beaten track’ and does not get the amount of publicity that others get, hence the appeal here.
hi beryl so they have a vet in this perrera and try to find them homes thankfully so you contact josi at pererra to donate
Can I just add that today Huesca have posted an additional 16 dogs which have come into their care this week. Animal Welfare Support Murcia are organising a sponsorship programme and to this end we have contacted Jose Abarca to ask for his views on the best way to go about this. Thanks.
That’s terrible that so many more dogs have come in, but marvellous that you are all energising to support these dogs. Keep us posted, Norma.
