  • Urgent – 3 x podencos in Madrid perrera

    Madrid pod x Snif 250These are Snif, Nemo and Mina, three podencos in a perrera in Madrid. The two first ones are males and the third a female. Irina is a fantastic spanish lady and volunteer that has made visits and photos and saved MANY dogs from there just the last few days, thanks to her eagerness.

    But so far no sucess with these three beauties. Today the perrera is changing its owner and a company is going to take over, what this will mean in practice is uncertain, but the place is horrible. The dogs get cold, sick and some have even died from starvation. It’s a hell.

  • Cuenca podencos – please save them!

    LUCIA, female Ibizan Hound, 4 years old, healthy, affectionate and in good health. 13 kgs, 43 x 55 cm.

    FILIPO, male Podenco, about 3 years old, in good health, shy and scared, 12 kgs, 40 x 45cm. The protectora will turn into a killing station this month, January 2013. Arcoairis, Cuenca, Spain.   • Seville – podenca andaluz puppy needs help

    This little podenca puppy is about 7 months old and has been picked up off the streets in Seville. The young man who rescued her cannot keep her longer than a week, so she urgently needs a foster home before the end of the year, and adoption. She’s been named Imagen.   • Podencos urgently need lifesavers – Badajoz and Toledo!

    Badajoz podenco Jim 250 11 2012Heartbreaking stories – Jim is a young podenco on death row in Badajoz perrera, due to be killed on 29th November. Toledo is where the other little podenco is injured and in danger. Here are their stories.

    JIM is a young podenco medium size, very affectionate but nervous – of course, he’s wondering why he is in the perrera. In the video you can see he wants to be friends, in a few days in foster or adoption he would be a happy hound again. If he stays where he is, he will soon be wet, cold and frightened. Please help!   • Podenco Inca in Murcia rescued – but another in Hellin perrera due to die on 28 Sept!

    This is Inca, and Bev Farmer tells his story.

    ‘We were alerted that a Podenco was in a perrera so arranged to go collect him. On arrival one of the staff just got him out of the kennel and told us to go now and return in a couple of hours and complete the paper work. We bundled him into the car and drove off with no idea what was going on. On returning they told us a gypsy had reserved him the day before and was on his way to take him, so if we had been 15 minutes later, it could have been a very different story for Inca.

  • Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote – hunters abuse podencos in the Canary Islands!

    For those of you who holiday in the Canary Islands, spare a thought to the podencos used by the hunters. What happens to them when the hunting season finishes? The lucky ones end up in the refuges like SARA Protectora on Lanzarote, TARA on Gran Canaria, Tenerife Dogs & K9 on Tenerife. But what about the hundreds of others?   • Seville again – more dogs in shacks – anyone room?

    News from Macu, in Seville. ‘Look at this little old girl – about 12 years old! She’s with another 15 dogs living in a shack, waiting to be moved to a kennels. It would be marvellous if she could spend her last few years in comfort. She weights less than 10k, is very gentle. Is there anyone who could take her, if I get her out? I’ve already got 16 in a kennels which I am paying for? What I need is an association which could take her and get her adopted’.
