Podenca Andaluz come in 3 sizes, small, medium and large. My podenca Bebe is a miniature – weighing in at a mere 6 kilos aged 10 years. She was rescued injured and traumatized from a Seville motorway over 4 years ago by my friend Marisa, a volunteer with El Refugio Escuela. My vet operated on her leg and saved it and she is now the fastest little dynamite on 4 legs! The only time we see a handicap with her leg is when she goes down stairs – she carries her left leg. You can see the scars on her hind quarters where the hair has never grown back. Adorable little dog! Here on video at lunchtime. Scrounging, not me! Nudging your leg to remind you I’m here – not me!

A podenco not wanted – because the hunter mutilated him!
This is Nestle, look what the bloody hunter did to mutilate him. And yet he is still an affectionate, loyal and trusting podenco. Ok, not pure podenco, but it’s not his fault the hunter cut off his beautiful huge podenco ears…Can anyone offer him a forever home so he is no longer ‘Not Wanted?’ contact via the website.

Holidays in Alicante – no accommodation for this podenca
I only read this story today, no one contacted me with the appeal. I might have been able to help – put people in touch with each other where others – it’s what I do ‘behind the scenes’ at Podenco Post and Galgo News. So many people tried to help when those who were asked first and should have helped DID NOTHING! So sad. She could have been saved….

Valencia perrera – female podencos on death row
I’m now back home at my main computer and can post the photos of the 8 podencos currently in the perrera at Valencia. This little lady is not yet a year old! All females, the only male was saved a couple of weeks ago and also a white female. The black one is very unusual but sadly on CESE which is fast track to killing – on the instructions of the owner! All are very young, a couple are under a year old! Details of costs needed to save them, and also to pay kennel fees.

Saved from Valencia & Hellin perrera – kennel fees needed and urgent foster and adoptions
I’d like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all your marvellous people who have donated to save podencos from Hellin and Valencia perrera. Anke and Dominique do amazing work and I’m now happy to show you all the podencos you have helped them save and place in a residencia. The appeal now is for donations to pay the kennel fees until, most importantly, these beauties can be adopted. Here is a list of the dogs, who have now all been named. Cheap accommodation in Tenerife, Canary Islands – food and drinks not included

The first one is about 12 podencos living in appalling conditions on a farm in San Roque, Tenerife. The foundation Animal Help Canarias reported the poor state of the hounds on a finca. The way the animals are crammed in the back of a private estate, continuously chained without any room to move. The precarious facilities do not meet the necessary hygiene and dogs have “not even enough food or water,” said a spokesman for the foundation. “Neighbors often call these situations to denounce”.

Podenca on the streets of Granada – Urgent – anyone room for her?
This is a female podenca living on the streets of Loja, Granada. She had a companion, a labrador, but someone has taken him and he is now in kennels. But the podenco is so afraid that she has not been caught. Next weekend she is going to be darted but after that there is nowhere for her to go. Animales Rioja refuge flooded out, please donate to pay for dogs to go in kennels
Animales Rioja land is now full of water because of the non stop raining. Bea and the rest of the volunteers are taking the dogs to put safe, but they need donations to place them in residences.
