2025 is slowly closing its doors and making room for a new chapter: 2026.
The past year was one of ups and downs. We faced unexpected setbacks and intense emotions, but also countless beautiful moments, shared with the special dogs who crossed our path. It was a hectic year that flew by, yet one we look back on with warm and grateful hearts.
We think back to all the D-days: those unforgettable moments when our beloved dogs packed their bags to meet their new families. No fewer than 177 dogs found their happiness this year. A result we could only dream of, and one that was made possible thanks to our amazing partners: Associazione ZAC Odv , Un Levriero per la Vita, Project Galgo, Vegrennen EV, Simona Norkute (Lithuania), Helping Animals Almanzora, Friends of Mazarrón Animals, Stichting Wereldhonden, and of course you—our loyal supporters. I’ve followed Adrián Granda for several years watching his incredible journey with Tila. Once again, for the third time, she has won her group at the Spanish Championships.
Tila’s story began in the most humble of places. She was one of three tiny pups in a pet shop that helped local rescues find homes. At just 3 months old, Adrián adopted her… who could have imagined then, that this little Podenco would grow into a three-time agility champion? (more…)

12 October, start of the Spanish hunting season
October 12, marks the beginning of the hunting season and with it, the terrible countdown for thousands of greyhounds and hunting dogs in Spain. Once again, these noble animals, used and exploited, face an uncertain fate: abandonment, mistreatment, or death when they cease to be useful for hunting. The cycle of abuse is repeating. Countless innocent lives are already sentenced. Behind every specimen of breeding, there is a potential discard. Enough with the abuse and systematic neglect.It is urgent and necessary to put an end to uncontrolled breeding and the cruel discardment of greyhounds and hunting dogs. Galgos France – helping the Gran Canaria podencos

17/2/2017 Two of our protégés came out last week from the hell of the Canary pound: Bryonny and Rosetta are in a pension in Tenerife while waiting to leave for Irene in Alicante (Hope for Podencos) who will take care of them and arrange supplementary tests while awaiting adopters.
They will join Tianna who will soon leave with host family in the United Kingdom and Erica.
So there are 6 podencos sponsored by Galgos France that are still impounded. Penelope, Sweets, Spinet, Smiley, Lottie and Nancy …. Hopefully they survive until their release …

Saving the Lanzarote Podencos – TheKennelKlub & Podenco Friends
Lanzarote… the podenco is the primary dog for hunting on the island many are abandoned handed into perreras the majority dont make it.. Adoptions are far and few between due to the lack of flights overseas that will carry dogs. We want to make a difference, Laura Johnson of the Kennel Klub on Lanzarote and Beverley Farmer from Podenco Friends are working together to save these six podencos recently handed over by their owners or found abandoned … the clock is ticking please help us save Kesha, Safina, Hania, Nala, Leyla, and Bruno.
Bruno and Safina are out of the perrera and now in private kennels where they have space to run a comfortable bed, people to play with and they can see daylight. Laura and the team on lanzarote was there to transport them to their new residence we will post a video shortly. Thank you to everyone that has donated this allowed us to get these two out and will be seen by the vet. It appears Bruno has some issues with his balance, too early to speculate what the problem may be. Hopefully have some answers in a few hours after he has seen our vet.

90 podencos of Mogan, Gran Canaria – one year on
Do you remember this heartbreaking story? This is the latest update – you will be as heartbroken as me to read that no matter how hard the team try to get some action, they are no further forward.
‘These 90 podencos continue today (11-08-2016) in the same situation of abuse after three years after being condemned by a local protective. These images are repeated today in the new location after a metal plates under the sweltering heat because the owner responsible fled to another municipality in the month of December 2015. The matter is now in the hands of the examining court no. 1 of Telde after two and a half years of municipal bureaucracy.
