Apologies for the lack of colourful pix on Podenco Post but we have had to change to a new system and I am still getting the hang of using it.

WE have had to move the Podenco Post website to a new internet home, so that’s why we have been offline the past few days.
The site is still very much a work in progress, but we are slowly putting the pieces back together and normal service will be resumed soon.
As ever, thank you for your support over the years.
In Telde, Gran Canaria, where they hunt with podencos.
300 hunters claim in Telde to recover the lost days. They gathered middle of August in Telde to show their displeasure over the restrictions imposed during episodes of high temperatures, which they say have caused them to miss several days of hunting in Gran Canaria.
(Pity the restrictions weren’t permanent!)

Martinica, only 1 year old and already suffered at the hands of a galguero. She was brought into Fundacion Benjamin Mehnert, Seville on 16/04/2025 with a limp and deformity of her left ankle. A follow up x-ray revealed an old humerus fracture where the bone had shattered. Appeared to have been caused by gunshot. She is looking for a quiet calm home with another dog, to recover from her ordeal and operation.
This week I had a message from a lovely lady whose Mum adopted a little podenco X from me 13 years ago. Bobby was much loved by Jane, her daughter and sisters Claire and Deborah. It’s thanks to them that Bobby had such a wonderful last few years, they made a lot of sacrifices to take him on after Jane, and they gave him the absolute best. After a wonderful life in a loving home he developed cancer and has sadly crossed the rainbow bridge. RIP Bobby.
R.M. Drake from the book ‘ Dog People’
“What’s the hardest part about having a dog?” they asked, their tone casual, like it was just another question.
The hardest part about loving a dog is knowing that one day, you’ll have to say goodbye. From the moment they come into your life, you know their time is limited, but you push that thought away, pretending the day will never come. You invest your heart in them, share the quiet mornings, the playful afternoons, the long walks that seem endless. They become more than just a part of your life—they become a part of you.
