    Angela, what can I say? She has been with us now a year, she has never complained she has never cried. Rescued from rejection, and yet rejected again. For as much as her galguero threw her out, her precious babies left behind, she was wandering around with chronic mastitis and a broken heart. Healed of such at 112 carlota galgos, she is rejected again for adoptants just don’t see her! Here she is peeking over Mariposa’s back, this is Angela.

  • Bullas, Murcia – 50 podencos need getting out – Pro-Setter Spain organising, please help

    Murcia podenco 250 1 3 3 2012I’ve just had news that there are still 50 podencos which need getting out of the camp in Bullas, Murcia, where the owner has been denounced and Seprona have said the dogs will be put down if they are not rescued. Here’s some pix of them. It’s a mammoth task as all the dogs rescued need flea and tick treatment, some have diahorrea, some are sick, most are malnourished.   • La Rioja – more than just winery tours – Animales Rioja

    Riona CLINT 250 3 2012Clint is a beautiful rough haired Podenco Ibicenco who was rescued from the Rioja perrera. He has a problem with his sight, probably because in his past life he has been kept in the dark.

    Little Podenca Andaluz Rubia (see below) has also been rescued from the perrera; she is very thin and malnourished. She now seeks a warm house where she can recover and be beautiful!

    These two podencos are with Animales Rioja, along with Cloe, another podenca. If you can help with vet fees etc, or adopt either of these deserving souls, write to animalesrioja@gmail.com

She is very friendly, no fears, not at all timid. she loves cuddles, gets on well with other dogs of all sizes and is perfect with kids of all ages.

  • Happy Ending-Final Feliz Photo Competition – closing dated 31st March 2012

    Happy Endings Chiclana 250Happy Ending-Final Feliz is a dog rescue shelter near Chiclana, Cadiz, in southern Spain. It was started by a Norwegian lady, Margarita, and her loyal band of supporters fundraise to pay for the keep of the dogs they rescue and look after. Their current fundraiser is a Photo Competition. Entries are only 2 euros each, so get sending your photos in and help boost their funds.

  • Malaga – Podenca Ana seeks your help

    Ana 3 Charl 250 1 2012Do you remember the story of Ana, the podenca near Valencia, with a badly injured hind leg and who was so distrustful of humans that it took nearly 3 months to catch her. During that time she had some pups – who are in foster – and is now safe with 112carlotagalgos.

    Ana’s problems were not over after she was caught. Vet Paco examined her injured leg and pronounced it too damaged to repair, then she caught an infection, and now she has had to have surgery to remove her leg. But not to worry, 3-legged amputees can run as fast as 4-legged if they want to! Charl tells Ana’s story so far.

  • Gran Canaria Winter Sun Holidays – Roque Nublo nightlife

    Gran Canaria podencas 250 5 2 2012Gran Canaria for winter sun holidays! Great! So long as you close your eyes to all the abandoned dogs and cats roaming the Island. These three podenca bitches have been in the camping/picnic area near Roque Nublo since November. The only survive on what they can retrieve from the visitors. A concentrated effort is being made to catch them but, as you can imagine, after all this time, it won’t be easy. TARA shelter on Gran Canaria sent the news. I’ve asked them to let me know if the podencas are caught. And if you go on holiday to Gran Canaria, go and see the shelter at Mogan, they are always pleased to see people interested in their work.
