Valencia perrera – time running out for this young podenco
This rough haired podenco doesn’t know why he’s been left behind in Valencia perrera. Many of his friends have left, either been rescued or killed. He’s been in there a couple of months now and his time is running out. He’s one of the two in the cage.

Valencia perrera – new podencos in – podencos still there – podencos saved
I’m pleased to report that the ‘oldie’ podenca in Valencia perrera has been reserved hopefully, although she has a chip and that has to be dealt with. There are still podencos in Valencia perrera, including the lovely black bitch, two more podenca andaluz male and female, a small 7yr old female Karina and a new black and white one described as ‘young, very good and kind, very good-natured, very noble. Apparently he does not want to hunt. Prefers to cuddle ….’

Pod and Co, Belgium – galga and podenca puppies need help
Here you will see photos of two puppies which were found abandoned in Spain, two females about 4 1/2 months old, a galga and a podenca. The were in a difficult area near to a road. apparently there were three puppies but one has disappeared, perhaps injured by a car because the podenca puppy has a rear hind foot which seems to be broken, she doesn’t use it. The galga puppy is ok.
They are thin and dehydrated. They need to be deparasited because they have a lot of fleas and ticks, they are now in a refuge and will be taken to our vet.
We need to find a foster family and adoptants.

Valencia perrera – podenca on death row because she’s too old to hunt
Valencia perrera, on death row. CESE (relinquished by owner), 11 years old Podenca, born in 2002, dumped by a hunter because she gets tired when hunting, she would not go in the cage without him leading her in. She is in complete shock, does not even know what a blanket is when one was given. Very sweet. Costs involved to save her.

Pregnant Portuguese podenca needs saving – URGENT!
This poor soul is Esperanza, discovered shut in a shed for more than a month, sleeping on top of all her dirt and existing on bread, waiting to give birth.
Teresa Sousa is hoping to take her from her ‘owner’ today and save her from the municipal kennels where she would be pts in a couple of days. Valencia – injured podenca still needs help
Earlier in the year I appealed for help to save an injured podenca in Valencia perrera. She was saved and is now in foster care, receiving veterinary treatment for her nasty wounds. She has been named Valentina and is in the care of Protectora des Animales Mes Que Gossos. The vet bills for her treatment have mounted up and donations are desperately needed to pay for these. I understand she has been chipped and vaccinated. Especially she really needs a forever home. Pic below of her original injury and how it is healing, although there is still a long way to go.

Valencia perrera – female podencos on death row
I’m now back home at my main computer and can post the photos of the 8 podencos currently in the perrera at Valencia. This little lady is not yet a year old! All females, the only male was saved a couple of weeks ago and also a white female. The black one is very unusual but sadly on CESE which is fast track to killing – on the instructions of the owner! All are very young, a couple are under a year old! Details of costs needed to save them, and also to pay kennel fees.
