Here you will see photos of two puppies which were found abandoned in Spain, two females about 4 1/2 months old, a galga and a podenca. The were in a difficult area near to a road. apparently there were three puppies but one has disappeared, perhaps injured by a car because the podenca puppy has a rear hind foot which seems to be broken, she doesn’t use it. The galga puppy is ok.
They are thin and dehydrated. They need to be deparasited because they have a lot of fleas and ticks, they are now in a refuge and will be taken to our vet.
We need to find a foster family and adoptants.
The podenca cannot be operated on because the fracture is an old one and the bone has formed a solid mass. But her foot is mobile and the vet says that for the moment she just needs to grow. Perhaps an operation will be possible in the future but for the moment our vet does not recommend it because it would cause the puppy a lot of suffering without the security that it would prove a solution.
It is sad because she is a charming and affectionate puppy but there is some pain in her foot. She is on anti-inflammatories, she plays with the others but her movement is limited.
We don’t have room for the puppies, since someone left us a big box with 4 galgo puppies 40 days ago and so we are full.
These two are already vaccinated, microchipped and deparasited. The blood test results are negative for leishmaniose, filariosis and erhlichia.
