  • Saved from the streets of Seville – Podenca Andaluz needs help

    Macu podenca May 1 250 2012This lovely young Podenca Andaluz, less than a year old, was rescued from the streets of Seville by Macu, with a rope around her neck, and a scalibor collar on, which she had obviously had to wear since a small puppy because it was infected with bugs etc. Naturally she is very fearful of humans, and is in a kennels, where the staff sadly don’t have time to rehabilitate her.

    She currently has a liver problem from her condition and therefore needs a special diet, plus needing vaccinations etc.

    Macu is desperate to find a foster home for her and also desperately needs funds to pay for the kennels, food, medication, preparing her EU vaccination. macu19782010@hotmail.com Paypal donations to macu19782010@hotmail.com

  • Two Podencos need help – Jerez perrera Spain – other nr Limoges, France

    Ghaicha Levriers & Co 250 5 2012This little lady is Podenca Ghaicha. She was rescued from gypsies here in France near Limoges. There were three of them – one was killed deliberately because she was no good at hunting, the brother was taken in by a villager and this little girl (the third sister) has been given shelter by a French hunter known to Levriers & Co – but he can’t keep her beyond next week. Is there anyone who can foster her. I should mention that she currently has no EU passport, blood tests etc. More here.

    And please, anyone sending me appeals and stories to post, send me the contact info. This gorgeous boy is in Jerez perrera, contact Maribel .

    Urgent appeal to save the lives of 100 dogs. Oscar writes from Cuenca;

    ‘Milagros from the Cuenca Dog Pound just informed me that the Inspection has been at the pound and that they “counted” 100 dogs too many. Therefore it is extremely urgent to get 100 (ONE HUNDRED) dogs out of there.

  • Podenco Julian – from Spain to America forever

    Julian GRIN 190 5 2012Another happy ending for a deserving podenco. Bon Voyage Julian.

    ‘This little fellow is Julian the Podenco. Last October a Canadian lady named Robin Waldman visited two shelters in Spain. One was suggested by GRIN, near Sevilla, called FBM (Fundacion Benjamin Mehnert). Robin volunteered there and soon met a galgo named Iker that she decided would come back home with her in the Spring.

    In the meantime she also met a Podenco named Julian who also won her heart. He had been waiting for so long, no one asked for him.
