SOS Animals – Podencos for adoption – all of them survivors from Spain

Guadiamar_5 190Here are some beautiful podencos with SOS Animals UK & Spain, desperately hoping they will catch your eye and your heart, forever. They are all young, ready to be trained, with full EU passports and bloodtested. Monica is an especially unusual girl, as the Podenco Orito is not a well known type of podenco, unlike the popular Podenco Ibizan and Podenco Andaluz. Guadiamar and Bembezar are brother and sister and have very unusual markings. Gemma came from Operation Rehala where 120 galgos and podencos were saved in January/February. All these super hounds have a survival story to tell. You can see more about them on the SOS Animals website.

Guadiamar

Born: 30/03/10
Breed: Podenco
Gender: Female
Colour: Tan & white
Height: 58cm
Weight: Medium

Guadiamar is a 1 year old Podenco. She is neutered, vaccinated and passported.

Guadiamars mother, Betsy was found emaciated and desperate for help, nursing her 5 puppies in a drain next to the River Guadalquivir. We think that she could have been a hunting dog who’d escaped, or who had been dumped, and has found herself alone. The puppies were born around the end of March 2011.

Luckily, a Spanish rescue in Seville who we work closely with, was there to help save the dogs from drowning. Betsy is now fit and healthy, and along with the puppies; Huéznar, Genil, Bembézar, Viar and Guadiamar, they are looking for new, loving homes.

Guadiamar is cheeky girl who just loves people. She would love another dog to play with. She is a typical Podenco puppy, playful and loving. She loves to be made a fuss of and really deserves a second chance at a good life.

She walks well on the lead, and really enjoys long walks. Guadiamar could do with some basic training but she is great with dogs and cats. We would prefer to rehome her with older children due to her size

Gemma_1 250Gemma – from Bullas

Although Gemma slept the entire first day she has now come out of her shell and her character is starting to shine through. She has the most beautiful Jade eyes. She has become more playful and confident and likes the company of other dogs.
This beautiful little lady is one of the girls rescued as part of the Big Podenco Rescue, where over 120 dogs were rescued in terrible condition

Monica
Born: 2011
Breed: Podenco Orito
Gender: Female
Colour: Brown
Height: Medium
Weight: Light

Monica_13 190Monica was born in 2011 and is a podenco orito. Monica is a beautiful, gentle, sweet natured girl and is great with children. Monica loves agility and is great at the hurdles, lure racing and long jump and would love to carry on doing something like this, maybe running or cycling!! Monica is fine with other dogs and cats.

She really is a wonderful girl and loves nothing more than a cuddle on the sofa. She is amazing and bright and would really suit someone who can give her the time, patience, exercise and training that she needs. She would be a great only dog, or with another dog who can teach her the ropes more.

Monica will need work on her recall too!!! Being a sighthound she is not great at it, so an understanding home and a secure garden is a must!

Please do get in touch if you can offer Monica her forever home. She is a gentle, sweet affectionate girl and really has so much to give.

Monica is fostered in the UK, she is neutered, vaccinated and has a pet passport
