It’s obvious that the hunting season in Spain is now drawing to a close. Perreras overflowing with hunting dogs, podencos, galgos, pointers…as well as thousands of other beautiful dogs – young ones, old ones – confused as to why they have been dumped. Podencos are used in very large number for hunting particularly in Valencia and the high kill perrera is overflowing. Below are some of the poor souls there, including 2 taken by the hunter himself, so can be killed any day, and a couple born in 2005 obviously used for breeding.

I receive heartbreaking stories like this every day and, like you, want to help them all. But let’s remember the podencos already saved and waiting in refuges and kennels – some of them for years – for a forever home.
