Three fabulous hounds from SARA Protectora on Lanzarote, Canary Islands. Now in the UK for rehoming.
Hello my name is Chloe and I am a 2 year old bitch Podenco Canario with probably something else crossed in although I have been told that this is a good thing as it makes me easier to look after! I came to England from Lanzarote early in 2012 and immediately went into a new foster home, who have shown me how to be a clean girl in the house and make myself attractive to humans! This bit wasn’t difficult as I am very pretty and have a really nice way about me.
I live in my foster home with 2 very old Greyhounds and a nice big boisterous Podenco called Reg and a young Whippet. We all get along very well and I enjoy playing with all of them. I also really enjoy playing with children too and my foster mum thinks that I would really enjoy being with a family.
I have been neutered, microchipped and I am fully inocculated and passported too. My foster mum says that I am really easy to look after(that’s good as I work very hard to make her happy!) and she says that I will make someone a lovely pet. Oh Mum says that I have never met a cat so she cannot say if I would be OK with them – whatever they are!
My favourite places to sleep are in a nice comfortable dog bed either on my own or curled up around Reg, if I get a nice walk a day ( I’m good on a lead) and plenty of food, I’m a really happy girl.
Chloe is ready for adoption immediately .
Hi, I’m Lorenzo Bartolo, a 4yr old Podenco Canario, fully vaccinated, microchipped, passport and neutered.

I have a very smart name, Lorenzo Bartolo, people just call me Lorenzo and I come from Lanzarote. I was in SARA the dog and cat sanctuary for over a year after I was rescued from a “killing station”. Whilst I was in SARA I quickly learned how to ingratiate myself with humans by cuddling up to them and showing what a lovely person I am.
Everybody loves me so I know that I do this very well indeed, in fact I was chosen to be taken out to the schools to educate the local children about how to treat the hunting dogs on the island.
I came to the UK in July 2012 and everybody loves me here too! My step parents thought that they would keep me to show everyone what nice dogs Podencos can be but as they have so many dogs of their own, they think that it is only fair to me to have a less doggy populated home.
I love walks and of course I don’t pull, I like to go in the car and of course I am housetrained! My favourite place in the house is to be curled up in a “doughnut” on a comfy dog bed in the kitchen! Sometimes I stretch out into positions which apparently are really comical as everyone laughs at me. I like to play and prance around like Bambi (whoever he is!) in the garden and I love children of all ages. I like other dogs, I’ve never met a cat so I don’t know if I’d like one but as I was originally a hunting dog( I wasn’t very good though) I think that any new owner ought to be careful when they introduce me to one. But as I’ve said, “I’m not daft” so I think that I’d soon learn to behave with a cat if I had to!
Lorenzo is a lovely, lovely boy who needs a forever home , there will be an adoption fee for him.
And I’m Lombi, and I’m 5 years old. ‘I’m vaccinated, microchipped and passported. I’m almost a podenco, only a little bit isn’t! I have spent nearly 5 years in SARA dog and Cat sanctuary on Lanzarote, I was taken there as a young puppy. It wasn’t very nice although I was well fed and kept safe.
I was flown to the UK early in 2012 and initially I didn’t know how to talk to humans as I’d spent 99.9% of my time relating to other dogs. I was very thin and I don’t think that I was ever brushed so my coat looked terrible! My step mum and dad have taken loads of time with me showing me how to react with humans.
I now go for walks across the fields off a lead and come back to my step parents when they call. I like fusses and I get on well with other dogs. I have never seen a cat so I don’t know if I’d like them, but I get along with horses. I am housetrained and I don’t wreck things around the house.
My part German shepherd breeding has made me an excellent guard dog and I look after my foster parents yard very well indeed.
I would like a home where my new owners can spend lots of time giving me the love and attention that I’ve missed. I don’t think that I ought to be with young children as I like my own space and prefer to talk to people on my terms although I’m getting better at trusting humans all the time and I promise that I will repay love and attention 1000 times over.
Lombi is looking for a permanent home and an adoption fee is required.
