  • Two blind podencos in Seville – please donate to their operations

    Macu Atila-4 250I recently reported about two podencos in Seville which Macu had rescued from Palmete, a settlement of galgueros and gitanos from where she saves many hounds. Both the podencos had eye problems. The younger one has been named Atila, just two years old, in good health apart from not being able to see. His problem is that there are waterfalls and tumours in each eye, and if enough money can be raised, the opthamologist can restore Atila’s sight 100%. At the moment, the poor dog spends a lot of time bumping into things or just not moving about atall. The amount needed – 1,600 euros to include the operation and follow-up tests. If Atila does not have the operation, he will be blind for life.

  • Street life in Seville, accommodation needed

    Seville podenco pups 3 250 2 7 2012We’re used to pix of bitches with pups on the street in Seville, but not such little puppies, all on their own. 3 x podencos, left in a porch by the street; 2 males and a female. Terrified, of course.

    They were collected by a volunteer two weeks ago and she is desperately trying to find foster homes for them. They have a bit more confidence but need more individual work. They need somewhere very enclosed as, still being nervous, they run and hid when startled.

  • SOS Animals – Podencos for adoption – all of them survivors from Spain

    Guadiamar_5 190Here are some beautiful podencos with SOS Animals UK & Spain, desperately hoping they will catch your eye and your heart, forever. They are all young, ready to be trained, with full EU passports and bloodtested. Monica is an especially unusual girl, as the Podenco Orito is not a well known type of podenco, unlike the popular Podenco Ibizan and Podenco Andaluz. Guadiamar and Bembezar are brother and sister and have very unusual markings. Gemma came from Operation Rehala where 120 galgos and podencos were saved in January/February. All these super hounds have a survival story to tell. You can see more about them on the SOS Animals website.

  • Where to stay in Seville! Cheap accommodation!

    Podenca mama 190 Seville 2 2 2012Seville area, can anyone save this podenca bitch and her 2 puppies. She’s in an area where there is garbage dumped, and dogs, dead from cold and hunger. Please has anyone room to take them temporarily or longer, otherwise they too will probably die from hunger and cold. The sender of the appeal is already full to bursting.
