I’ve just been pointed in the direction of APASA, Javea, originally a dog pound which was taken over and for a few years has been privately run. It’s in Javea, on the Costa Blanca. You can read about their work on the above link.
They also have about 50 podencos waiting for adoption, have a look at these beauties by clicking on ‘Podencos’ on the right hand side of the page (there isn’t a direct weblink) (This one is Pampa) They are all hoping someone somewhere will offer them a forever life in a home. Some of these dogs have been in the shelter for most of their lives, some of them for nearly 10 years!
Have a look at Panther on page 1 – he’s been in the shelter nearly 10 years. Why? They say he is a lovely hound, walks well on a lead and beside a bicycle (podencos are active dogs). He deserves to experience home life.
