Another little beauty flying the flag for podencos. Here’s what her Mom writes.

‘After reading the recent article about the Podenca winning prizes and as an owner of a rescued Podenca myself, I would also like to endorse the fact that they are a lovely breed.

Calcetines (named by the people in our village of Olvera, Cadiz whilst on the street) stole the hearts of many people who fed her but no-one could take her in. My husband and I, after the death of our lurcher, could not see her on the street any longer and took her in. That was three years ago and we have had not one regret. I entered her into a charity show and she won her class “Best female rescue dog” (certificate pictured).

If anyone is considering adopting a podenco, please do not hesitate, as you will not regret it. They give so many kisses and so much love…..they are an absolute joy to live with. We love Calcetines to bits.’
