Podenca/Galga desperately needs forever – don’t forget the xbreeds

He is a hunter who is now looking for a ‘friend’ to take the bitch, as he no longer wants her. At least he hasn’t just dumped her. There are hundreds of xbred podencos and galgos throughout Spain, mostly the result of the careless abandonment of the dogs after hunting. As soon as an abandoned bitch comes into season, male dogs scent here from miles around and the poor thing can be covered by several males. Rehoming the xbred puppies then becomes a problem.

Charl del Rio of 112carlotagalgos has just such a problem. Gandalf has been waiting a year or so for a forever family, Henrietta was rescued from life under a pile of tyres, and Taz and Wolf were two puppies rescued with their galga mother from life in a drainage channel under a motorway.
