  • PACMA – protestng about the Royal Decree 666/2023

    PACMA logo 400
PACMA – we want to tell you that on 5th March 2025 we have presented a proposal for an urgent modification of the terrible Royal Decree 666/2023 of the Government, which has generated enormous discomfort among veterinarians and animal guardians. There are many inconsistencies to correct.

Why is this decree a problem?

It requires notification of each veterinary prescription through the PRESVET system, including animals considered companion animals, when the European Regulation excludes them.

It requires pathogen identification tests for certain antibiotics, which delays treatments and is costing animal lives.

It imposes mandatory identification of animals for the administration of medications, making it difficult to treat community cats and abandoned animals. Such as where cats in a feral community are caught, neutered and returned to their community.

    From The Green Olive Association

22nd February – of Olvera, this little dog has been around our town for a few days, yesterday she was run over and as a result one of her paws is injured. We’re trying to get her out of the street but she’s very scared, also we couldn’t make a routine to be able to set up the trap cage outside of our working hours. We ask you, please, not to try to catch it and if you see it in any area, inform us about the place and time, if possible to do it privately via WhatsApp to 637377560 to avoid further harm.

27 February – Neighbors of Olvera, we can’t believe it… Today we wanted to give you the great news that the dog with the injured leg was rescued but the situation is different and we are not believing it, we explain why: These days we have been receiving warnings of a podenca with an injured leg in different areas of Olvera, as we have been able, in the free hours we have done routine and also counting on some warnings from neighbors as well. Yesterday after 6 hours of rescue and with a professional rescue team that traveled to Olvera we managed to rescue her!

  • The cost of hunting in Spain

    From Plataforma NAC

There are fewer and fewer hunters… but Spain is still a great hunting ground!

The number of hunters in Spain has dropped staggering: 45% down in the last 50 years and almost without generational relief. Meanwhile, 85% of Spanish territory is still destined for hunting, a multimillion dollar business in the hands of a few.

    The cost of this activity?

30 million animals killed every year.
    Lead ammunition polluting the environment.
Dozens of dead and injured in hunting accidents.
Dogs used and abandoned after the season.

Hunting is not necessary or ethical! Most of society rejects this cruel practice, but kinetic lobbies continue to impose their interests.

  • Podenca Pirate in Lanzarote – a special podenca desperately needs a special loving forever home

    Lanzarote blind pod 3 350
Pirate is a Podenca Canario with only one eye. 2 years old, sociable, affectionate, neutered and vaccinated. She is ok with children, dogs and cats. A few days ago we gave a talk about animal protection and welfare at the Official Reef Language School. To this talk we were accompanied by the sweet PIRATE, this beautiful podenquita who charmed everyone present asking for cuddles at every step. As the talk was in German and Pirate isn’t very good at it, she took the opportunity to greet everyone and show them how good, caring and noble she is.

She would love a forever family, her only hope is on mainland Europe. She can travel.

    Adopta un Podenco de Lanzarote

(We adopted a totally blind podenco over 3 years ago. He is an amazing dog, walks well on the lead, walks up a ramp into the car, causes a stir whenever he is out as people always want to stop and chat about him. So Pirate has an advantage is that she is partially sighted. Let’s get her the home she deserves.)

  • Spain – in schools galgueros promote hunting with hounds

    Hunting in schools 2 2025 350
The galgueros fight back against the rescue associations which go into schools discouraging hunting.

The Extreme Hunting Federation has decided to bring its PROADES program ‘Hunting and Nature’ to 27 schools in the community, which has generated concerns about the education being given to young people.

Although the program includes informative talks and outdoor activities, its approach to hunting and hunting can be problematic as it promotes an activity that many consider incompatible with wildlife conservation and respect for wildlife.
Since its inception in 2017, this program has been gaining ground in schools, but it’s critical to question whether it truly brings educational and environmental value, or if, on the contrary, normalizes practices that can be detrimental to the ecosystem.
