    Podenco Balto rescued and looking for a forever home. Here’s his story.

    ‘Few months ago we came across this pic… We all shook our heads when we saw a podenco in this state!. It’s one of the most punished breeds along with the greyhound

    After several hospitalizations and veterinary checkups, it was discovered that Balto had a tick stick stuck to his esophagus and lung. Vets didn’t give him much chance and also couldn’t understand that the infection hadn’t killed him. He was a very lucky boy after all he had been through!.

    Now Balto is ready to find a home and many people prayed that he will be saved but finding a home for him is also a salvation!

  • Podenco badly injured caught in an illegal snare!

    The Gift of Kings: Delivered from a Slow and Sure Death. This is how this podenca was rescued, with an anchored strain, illegal and quite dangerous, it destroyed its leg.

    She’s been every Christmas a slave to human evil,….. her malnutrition and the state of the cachexic reflects it.
    Let’s call her LUZ (LIGHT), because we need a ray of Light in the face of so much evil, passivity and indifference.

    From Huella de Jaén we’re going to help her, WE THANK the State Security Forces for the intervention and that there is JUSTICE.

    We continue with her cures to save her leg. Let’s hope for Justice, to finally end those illegal practices that still exist, leaving many mutilations to innocent beings.

    WHISKY, A FORGOTTEN GRANDFATHER IN A GARAGE. In a week he will go to the pound… After 10 years locked in a dark garage, this 10kg little guy is slowly shutting off. His owner is hospitalized and will never return and no one has asked for him in a year and a half.

    Just waiting for an opportunity. A foster, an adoption …… whatever it is. It doesn’t deserve to end like this.

  • Podenco pup needs a foster home urgently

    Heartbreaking, this young dog young woman found in the port of Mazagon (Huelva) with her paws full of cuts, we have cured her and are giving her care. But we live on a boat in which the dog can’t be. The dog is under the boat, it is not inside, it is not picked up!! is in the street.

    We ask for help from any protector or person who can take her in.

    The police have been called and checked for a chip and it doesn’t have one.

    If you can’t take care of her, or foster her please spread, soon the boat leaves and none of the people who feed her are from here, live on the boat and there can’t have any animals and less travel with them..

    It’s very urgent to disseminate.

  • Podenco Merlin with Akira Dog Sanctuary – desperate for a forever home

    Merlin is 5 years old. He’s been in the shelter for 4 years! His whole puppyhood in the shelter. The volunteers have worked hard on him, taking him out for walks, to the beach and lots more. But it’s not the same as his own family in his forever home. He would prefer a rural home with a large garden and your reward will be a lifetime of loyalty, once he settles. Don’t let Merlin be one of the invisibles.

    This weekend there are over 32 marches across Europe including the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Canary Islands. Besides the hundreds of galgos marching, there will also be hundreds of podencos too. Wish them all well.

  • Life is hell for Portuguese Podengos

    The situation with the podengos in S. Miguel, Azores, is disastrous. One of the biggest problems is that it is mostly unknown that these dogs actually exist. And yet, the Azorean Podengos, with their distinctive identifying physical characteristics likely represent one of the original founder stocks of the breed. They should absolutely be protected.

    This poor bitch is chained up and used just for breeding!
