Galgos112 were involved in the rescue of the 57 podencos and 2 galgos in Valencia in August last year. Bev Farmer of Podenco Friends also fostered and homed some of the pods. There are some beautiful photos of happy podencos too on this weblink.

This video was made possible by Xari Shepherd….who highlighted the plight of these Podenco pups in Motril… only 4 of the original 6 pups could be caught and rescued… the mother and two other pups like many Podencos in Spain have little or no chance of experiencing the Motril Posses’ future of living in a loving home environment… Beverley Podencos introduced us to our first Podenco called Inca …..and we found out at first hand how amazing this breed can be in a home environment.

Scooby Medina del Campo is probably the largest and one of the oldest rescue shelters in Spain. There are hundreds of dogs, rescued horses, goats, poultry, ferrets and they all need feeding and vet care. Scooby rely totally on donations and fundraisers. ANUA – rescuing Rosi – needing help
The Spanish hounds are incredible survivors. Here’s a tale of one, who now sadly needs help, a Podenco Ibicenco named Rosi.
‘Rosi, an abandoned dog but with luck, a girl daily has been carrying the water and food, feeding Rosi other 4 dogs.
Every day for a year, when she heard the noise of the vehicle of the girl, Rosi came to meet, making leaps of joy, but everything changed two days ago, Rosi was not in place, Rosi didn’t make an appearance, the girl was expected the worst and so it has been.

This is why I am writing to you to bring to your attention a survey launched by the European Commission. This survey will be used, in part, to determine what sort of action should be taken on the welfare of cats and dogs in commercial settings.

Valencia – P.E.P.A. at work on the streets
PEPA rescues many podencos from Valencia province, Rosemary Macdonald tells the story of Bonnie.
‘This is Bonnie who was in danger of having her puppies on the streets of Valencia. Now less than a week later here she is the proud mum of seven at the moment healthy pups. We have been given promises of help with these puppies so I hope everyone helps us as we will need foster for them in about 5-6 weeks.’
