The dirty truth about top-selling dog foods
From the Editor of The Whole Dog Journal
The dirty truth about how top-selling dog foods could actually be harming your dog’s health!
And other untold secrets you need to know.Dear Fellow Dog Lover,
You want the best for your dog – especially when it comes to his food. You read labels and try to choose the brand and formula that will nourish your furry friend.
That’s why you’ll be as shocked as I was, to discover that dozens of today’s top-selling brands – names you thought you could trust, like Beneful, Pedigree, Purina and more – may not contain the wholesome, healthy ingredients you want for your dog.

Duathlon, 19th March 2016, Clumber Park, Nottingham – Sponsor Team Pepis
Pepis Dog Refuge in Pedrera, Seville, has an outstanding vet bill so far of nearly 4,000 euros! That includes sterilization of dogs (the first thing to be done with the arrival of each new dog, to prevent unwanted puppies), vaccinations, dogs needing operations, medication…the list is endless.
It’s desperate that this bill is cleared and to that end Ellen Stevens and 2 friends have entered the team event in the Duathlon at Clumber Park, Nottingham, on 19th March 2016. If you look on the Youcaring link below, you can read all about it.
Please sponsor Team Pepis and share widely with family and friends. Let’s raise the total and more if possible. Help Jane and Alan Brian help dogs like blind podenca Anca, in this photo.

What your dog really thinks about you
I am your dog, and I have a little something I’d like to whisper in your ear; I know that you humans lead busy lives. Some have to work, some have children to raise. It always seems like you are running here and there, often much too fast, often never noticing the truly grand things in life.
Look down at me now, while you sit there at your computer. See the way my dark brown eyes look at yours? They are slightly cloudy now. That comes with age. The grey hairs are beginning to ring my soft muzzle. You smile at me; I see love in your eyes. What do you see in mine? Do you see a spirit? A soul inside, who loves you as no other could in the world? A spirit that would forgive all trespasses of prior wrong doing for just a simple moment of your time?

DeAnimals – fighting the corner for animal cruelty in Spain
Not about podencos but an example of the incredible work done by DeAnimals firm of lawyers in Murcia. And why they need funding and sponsorship to fight more cases and run more courses to educate lawyers, judges, police, Seprona and volunteers on how to prosecute cases of maltreatment of animals. Please sponsor them through ACTIN here. If donating through Paypal, please go through family and friends and mark Donation to DeAnimals

Hey Galguero and Cazadore – hear your hounds
(Poster by Bev Farmer, Podenco Friends.) A message to all the galgueros and cazadores. May you suffer as you make your hounds suffer.
Hey Galguero!
At first I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights
thinking how you did me wrong
And I grew strong
And I learned how to get along
