Helping a chained dog
There is a belief in Europe that guard dogs should be chained up. There is also a belief in Europe that any dog can be chained up, many of them without even shelter. I see it here in France – a border collie chained up in a farmyard particularly angers me. Podencos also suffer this maltreatment and Aaniferira, a Portuguese animal rescue association, have published a piece about dealing with the problem. You can read more about it here.

I received this yesterday and circulated it to associations. I’m desperately hoping someone has taken her to safety. Basically her bastard hunter has said he doesn’t want her and so he’s going to kill her. She’s 5 years old and in Alicante.

SOS Galgos seeks help from Europe in ending the plight of Spanish galgos
On 9th June SOS Galgos attended the first international demonstration in defence of Spanish galgos in front of the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The protest condemned the cruelty suffered by galgos at the end of the hunting season. The demonstration was supported by Euro MP, Michèle Striffler. Mazarron, Murcia, gypsy – 17 galgos and podencos urgently need somewhere to go
Galgos del Sol urgently need help getting another 17 galgos and podencos out of the Mazarron gypsy camp.They have nowhere to put them and need help from other associations and foster homes.They will pay for rabies shots and transport to associations.The guardia have again visited the owner and said he is not allowed to own any dogs again.
