  • Valencia perrera – 2 podenco puppies – please help

    Valencia 2 bros 6 months old 250 5 2013Valencia pound. On death row. Two brothers, about six months old, precious and super friendly. They have honey-coloured eyes. One is a bit more suspicious than the other, are very funny because if you tell them things, the one on the right will wags its tail and get belly up and give kisses, because he wants to come, but as his brother is more cautious (I’m sure on the street he has survived thanks to him) he tells his brother not to come, and is constantly taking care of both.

    Hopefully someone can help the two together because they are very close. One without the other could not survive on the street. They are identical twins. Will be tall, because they are still puppies, appear to be Ibizans.

  • GRIN USA – galgos and podencos to new homes in April 2013

    Galgo Rescue International Network work hard at supporting a couple of rescue and rehoming shelters in southern Spain. Telma Shaw, who has visited several times to collect and transport galgos and podencos has recently returned from her latest trip. You can read about the trip and the latest galgos and podencos she took back to the US to their forever homes on this link. This one is about the journey and all the dogs which went back. It was great to meet Telma in Malaga last September, after years of corresponding. Thank you to Telma, GRIN and all your adopters, sponsors and donators. You are all incredible people.

  • Podenco Andaluz puppies needing forever homes

    Pod pup foster mum 1 190Danielle White is fostering Amber, a Podenca Andaluz, and her puppies. She gave birth to 7 healthy babies, 4 boys and 3 girls who are now 6 weeks old. Some have been found forever homes but she still needs homes for 3 boys. She says Amber has a wonderful nature.

  • Podenca Malaika – simply stunning!

    Bev Farmer takes the most fantastic photos of the podencos in her charge. This one is Malaika, rescued from a golf course and with an horrendous scar down her back.   • Portuguese podenca Esperanca – update

    UPDATE 08/05/13: Esperança has very sore teats as she still has mastitis and the antibiotics she is being given are only weak because of the puppies, but she has no fever and feels much happier, she waggs a lot. She won’t let her puppies suckle much because of the pain, so they are being artificially bottle-fed, thanks to Alison Blair who kindly sent more puppy milk. Esperança would like to thank again her sponsors for all the help they sent, thanks to them her vet bills have been paid on time. Thank you”

    Valencia perrera 1 250 5 2013I’m pleased to report that the ‘oldie’ podenca in Valencia perrera has been reserved hopefully, although she has a chip and that has to be dealt with. There are still podencos in Valencia perrera, including the lovely black bitch, two more podenca andaluz male and female, a small 7yr old female Karina and a new black and white one described as ‘young, very good and kind, very good-natured, very noble. Apparently he does not want to hunt. Prefers to cuddle ….’

  • Pod and Co, Belgium – galga and podenca puppies need help

    Here you will see photos of two puppies which were found abandoned in Spain, two females about 4 1/2 months old, a galga and a podenca. The were in a difficult area near to a road. apparently there were three puppies but one has disappeared, perhaps injured by a car because the podenca puppy has a rear hind foot which seems to be broken, she doesn’t use it. The galga puppy is ok.

    They are thin and dehydrated. They need to be deparasited because they have a lot of fleas and ticks, they are now in a refuge and will be taken to our vet.

    We need to find a foster family and adoptants.

  • Podencos Jazzy and Mocha – run free

    Enjoy this video of Mocha and Jazzy, two of Bev Farmer’s podencos running free on a beach in Murcia. Bev has marvellous training skills, her foster podencos are probably some of the best trained rescued podencos you will come across. I so wish we could let our galgos and podenco run free like this. But we have 40 acres of grass meadows with rabbits, hares, deer, wild boar, buzzards, herons…we dare not for one minute let them run free.   • Valencia perrera – podenca on death row because she’s too old to hunt

    Valencia perrera old bitch 250 5 2013Valencia perrera, on death row. CESE (relinquished by owner), 11 years old Podenca, born in 2002, dumped by a hunter because she gets tired when hunting, she would not go in the cage without him leading her in. She is in complete shock, does not even know what a blanket is when one was given. Very sweet. Costs involved to save her.
