Podenco Aroa – surviving against the odds
Aroa, history of a survivor! Aroa, is a young podenco of just 6 months who was thrown into the water on a raft to drown him. But our Aroa is a brave and smart podenco and was able to get out to safety. He hurt a paw and lost a nail trying to save his life, luckily he’s now healed.He is too young to suffer like this. He’s gone through hell. He made his way to a village but the children messed with him and scared him. But he is now safe and his luck has changed.
Despite everything which he has suffered is cheerful and very loving, he is good with other dogs and seeks a family that wants to give him the life he deserves. He is healthy and when grown will weigh about 12 pounds.

Podenco Canario Peaky – in the UK and waiting for adoption in a forever home
Introducing this stunning Podenco pup whose name is Peaky as he came over from the Canary Islands with his best friend another pup. They were both named “Peaky and Blinder” after the TV series so his name is Peaky, Blinder is already adopted.Unbelievable that 2 small podenco pups were in a perrera, and worse for Peaky is that he was kept in the perreraAlberge banaderos perrera would not release him for THREE MONTHS. He was reserved the day he came in as volunteers wrote saying how terrified he was – but three long months they kept this poor soul in,
especially as the volunteers had identified him as a very vulnerable case.Peaky arrived in the UK in January 2018 and is now about 9 months old. He’s now ready to move to the next stage of his life – must go to a home with other dogs, not cat tested but never been used to hunt so potentially could; also be ideal to train for canicross. He is fully passported, in foster and can be cat tested, home checks, adoption fee apply( hes the white and tan big pup).

Podenco Merric – deserves a loving forever home
Merric is a lovely 5 year old Podenco, good with people and other dogs. He has a bend leg but runs like all other dogs and it does not seem to bother him at all. Does not make him less handsome.This lovely boy is as good as gold, had a tough tough time as his leg shows though it does not affect him luckily -and so needs a loving family to adopt him

From Bev Farmer.‘Everyone has always answered our call to help sharing our podencos for adoption and we have had great success but again we ask for you help. Some of them have been with us over a year and although safe its no substitute for a real family. To find homes in Spain for Podencos is limited so we look to other countries and we ask for your help to share their details as much as possible. This is the lifeblood of any rescue unless people are aware we have so many waiting for their forever sofa they will remain here…..
These are some of our ours for adoption we have more that are not ready for their next stage in their lives. We have a number reserved due to leave soon and have some waiting to come to us please hit the share button and lets find these their forever homes. Unless stated all of them have been tested negative for Leishmania, Filaria, Ehlrichia, and anaplasma all are sterilised unless they are puppies. Thank you for your support

I feel emotions, just as you do. Just like you I feel Love, I feel Fear, I feel Pain and Joy. I also feel Grief!
I am not born knowing how to fit into your life. I will sometimes get it wrong. Sometimes I will not understand what you expect. I may fear things or act in a way you don’t understand. I may not understand how you are acting, or that strangers to the home mean no harm. I may not know what is acceptable to play with and what is not! I have to be taught these things, just as you had to be taught as a child.

Apparently he’d been in that state for a few days.. and they didn’t move from his side. Imagine how they are.. Sad, scared..

Axarquia Animal rescue – podencos waiting for forever homes.
This is Tico, one of the gorgeous podencos with Axarquaia Animal Rescue – he’s been waiting too long for a forever home. Tico was rescued after being thrown or dropped over a fence into someone’s garden. He was only half his current weight – literally just skin and bones – and clung to the leg of the person who found him. He was scared and very hungry. He’s now a healthy, happy dog with a beautiful coat and almond shaped eyes. His foster home reports he is super sweet natured. He loves having his belly rubbed and enjoys his toys, especially the kong.
