Appeal for help for a very sweet little podenco.

‘We are urgently looking for a home for Nero, a 9 year old senior podenco male. He is currently staying at EBA in Spain . He was found on the street by volunteers with a broken eye (which has been removed) and a wound in his neck.

Nero is a great dog despite all he’s been through. Extremely sweet, social, and cheerful and can be with other dogs and kids. . (Mits who are used to dealing with dogs, of course) . He weighs 10 kg.

Who will give this adorable podenco a warm forever home?

For more information send an EMAIL to rescani@gmail.com. We ALWAYS work with a questionnaire, telephone screening and home visits . So please only respond if you are willing to.

NB He is similar size to my little Bebe who lived to 18 years old recently, so Nero has plenty of years ahead of him.

All these three young babes needing homes, Selena, John and Kelly (from left to right). They are shy, but very kind and good with other dogs. In Cartagena, Murcia.

WONDERFUL POWER

El Podenco is the typical dog we usually see from the highway wandering around the field, which is confused with a galgo. The one who lives locked in a junction for years, the one who belongs to a rehala.

That hound dog no one wants.

Podenco means light feet.

Its stylized figure, its agility on any ground, its incomparable tracker, its visual and audible sharpness, its ability to adapt to any temperature. All of this has made from the podenco an essential “tool” for hunters.

The podenco has always been used for hunting, throughout its history.

But let us talk about the other side, not the one we are used to seeing, but the other, the good one.

From the association Adopta un Amico en Gran Canaria.

‘We need TEMPORARY HOUSES, for the 8 old podencos of the Case “90 Podencos of Mogan”.

After a year and a half since being rescued and taken to the kennels, we have been given permission to remove them from the kennel and keep them in Casas de Foster until the end of the Court trial.

Many have arthritis, blindness etc….. they don’t deserve to stay in a cage, now comes the cold, humidity etc..

WE ARE LOOKING for people with patience, they are dogs with fears, phobias, they have never been in a house and they do not know what a caress is….. and much less what it is to sleep warm.

We don’t know when the trial will end, of the 84 dogs that were removed from the hunter only these 8 had a chip…… the others (minus Siso, Bimbo and Ananda) are already adopted or on probation with families.

Having a chip they have not been able to look for family or get out of the kennel so far.

This photo is of Zoe when she was rescued. Here’s what Salvaunpodenco say about her now.

‘Introducing ZOE. WELCOME!

We never say it, but every time an animal enters the shelter, we get very excited, because we think that it has already begun to change it’s life and we hope to be able to find it the best family we can.

Zoe was found without a chip, wandering alone, very thin and malnourished. They picked her up and took her to the Ceta de Santa Lucia. The volunteers gave us the notice because it was a pity for them to see it like this. So since we had room for her…

Thank you for not leaving her on the street.

ZOE is 3 years old and she is such a sweetheart!

If you want her to be part of your family for the rest of your life contact salvaunpodenco@gmail.com
