‘After a thorough assessment at our vets Bella’s neurological responses are good pupils equal and reacting normally. Did a full blood panel and everything is fine no indication of any infection, kidney liver function normal.
They are treating her for canine idiopathic vestibular syndrome (see separate post) Bella is coming up to 11 years old but she is a very fit and active dog you would never know she is a senior. She had 5 injections at our vets and they have sent her home with 2 types of antibiotics and Prednisone. With instructions to keep a close eye on her that she doesnt have a fall and hit her head, however to encourage her to walk on a lead.
She is kind of out of it at the moment, I took her for a potter round the paddock on a lead, she turned her nose up at her normal dinner, so got some chicken and rice cooking for her.
Ive never seen this condition before, this morning she was running out in the paddock ate her breakfast was in the house then all of sudden she dropped to the floor. She was so scared and wasnt responding to me calling her name so I just scooped her up and got her to my vets.
My understanding she will recover from this we will know more in the next few days .. She has snaffled Mouse’s bed it has a lot support so I think its helping her. Mouse says its ok, Bella needs it more than me at the moment.
Thank you for all your good wishes for Bella I will keep you posted, she is a strong healthy dog very active never been sick so I hope that will help with her recovery.’

I’m so very sorry about Bella. My dog went through this and it was hell. I had to put him down after almost 3 days of watching him suffer. I cried for a month. We went through exactly what Bella is going through. The second time he collapsed I could see it was coming and I was able to grab him before he went down. Then it was 2 days of watching his eyes zig zag, back and forth all day. My vet didn’t want to put him down but I knew it was the right thing to do. My last clue was that he turned down Hagen Dazs vanilla ice cream. I just want to cry 6 years later. Please don’t be angry at me for this: please don’t let her suffer. I had my dog for 13 years and knew him well. It was time. I hope you don’t suffer as well. I send a big hug for you and Bella both. It’s a hideous condition.
So sorry to read about your loss, it’s never easy to lose a friend of so many years. I’m pleased to report that Bella is recovering, on medication and back home with Bev. Let’s keep fingers crossed she is ok for a few more years.
