This is Podenco Max, he was born in 2004. He was rescued last weekend (22/23 April 2017) in Mazarron, Murcia, by the Scooby team, along with a couple of dozen more podencos and galgos, including puppies. He deserves somewhere to spend his twilight years – he’s lucky to have survived to this age in the hands of a galguero! If you have a comfy bed for him, contact Scooby.

With hundreds of animals in the refuges, Scooby is also running this appeal.

‘Some important things to treat our animals are starting to scarce… Like Amoxicillin + Clavulanic Tablets, Meloxicam Injection, Doxycycline Tablets and Syrup, Metronidazole Tablets and Syrup (Flagyl) and very urgently is needed IMMITICIDE. We also need shavers, field cloths, 6 + 1/2 sterile gloves, blue pathways (small) , oxygenated water and internal deworming … If you have some of these items and you would like to donate them to us, we will be deeply grateful.

We collected 27 dogs altogether, mainly podencos and greyhounds in Mazarrón, a Spanish region where the galgueros and hunters’ brutality is unbelievable.

Some of the dogs are in a terrible condition, skin and bones, some with Leishmania. All are in Fermin´s place at Medina till they become stronger and ready for adoption.

This season the abandonment has been quite high in Castilla y Leon so we have only been able to pick up dogs in the south of Spain twice; in January in Cadiz and now in Murcia.
