21/11/2015 From Laura Johnson at TheKennelKlub.
Angelique had a good night considering – she has eaten, drank, had a short wander around the vet clinic and did peepee. Today she has had the operation to clean and close the 3 fractures on her skull and to remove her eyes. She has come round from the operation and is in recovery. The vet says it is a miracle that she is alive, but she is, and she is still fighting with everything she has to pull through. She is still critical but she is alert and responsive.
We would like to make it clear that her pain is being managed and if at any point the vet feels she is suffering or there is little chance of recovery then she does have our permission to help her cross the bridge and she will not hesitate to do so if she feels it is necessary. This dog survived for at least 3 days with these wounds before she was brought to us, she wants to live and while there is a chance, we think she deserves it.
On the legal front, we cannot thank Seprona and the Policia Local enough for their assistance with this matter. They have acted amazingly quickly and efficiently, located the owner and are building a case against him which will hopefully go to court next week.
Thanks also to Beverley at Podenco Friends who did not hesitate to help right from the beginning, to all of the offers of help that have been coming in from all over the world and to other local rescue groups for their support and advise. And last but not least, huge thanks to Carolina, Angelique’s vet, for her compassion, love and expert care (and for putting up with us blubbering in her clinic!).
We will keep you updated with her progress. Vet bills to date are 298.47€ plus 25€ for an official report. If anybody can help for her ongoing care we would be very grateful, PayPal to: thekennelklub@outlook.com

Laura has just sent this message at 18.30. The vet has taken her home for the weekend which is amazing and so much above what you would expect from a vet! She’s doing incredibly well all things considered, she is an inspiration and a miracle!
22/11/2015 More good news for Angelique here is a message from Laura Johnson
WOW guys, moved to tears and blown away by your incredible generosity! 2.715.56€ donated so far towards Angelique’s care. On behalf of Angelique and from us and Beverley at Podenco Friends, THANK YOU so much, you have no idea how much this means to us! There are literally too many donations to list one by one but if anybody would like confirmation that we have received your donation please just ask.
An update for today – again she had a good night, is eating well (and actually gets quite emotional when she hears the food tin being opened!), drinking well and is able to stand to go to the toilet. She is an absolute miracle and an inspiration to us all. She surprises us every day, and while she wants to fight for her life we will be right there beside her fighting along with her. The vet has taken her home with her for the weekend which is way and beyond what you could expect any vet to do – we are eternally grateful to Carolina. Angelique is getting constant supervision and care and couldn’t be in better hands. We will update again on Monday and THANK YOU!!!
