So far this month, 25 podencos in perreras have been posted on my ‘Podencos in Perreras’ facebook page. That is just the tip of the iceberg. Many are starving, some are old, some of them are on CESE which means the hunter has handed them in and said ‘kill as soon as possible’. One poor soul has had his ears and tail cut – they usually do this to dogs who hunt boars. shorter tails and ears usually means less hunting accidents with branches and even with the wild boars. They can even cut them legally in the region where it’s not allowed, because according to the law, cutting the ears and tail off is better for the this kind of dog! He is still in the perrera.
Another sad story is of two podenco puppies – about 6 months old – rescued from a river. They had ropes found their necks attached to rocks. Sadly the little boy was already dead but the little bitch was still alive. She is now in the care of an association. (see photo below)
And another story – a very pregnant podenca bitch squeezed herself into an outbuilding of a restaurant where she gave birth to several pups. She has now been found a foster home.
So many stories every day, I just don’t have the time to collect them to share them with you. But, believe me, the situation is horrendous for the podencos.
Anyone who can adopt a podenco into their heart and their home, please contact a rescue association first. When a rescued podenco is adopted, it makes room for one from a perrera.

i don’t know what i can say that ant been said before did any of the poor souls get a rescue out of the devil residence
after trying to find out recently how many podencos were in the perreras in spain i realised some very awful facts about the runnings and workings of these places,no killing stations are good as they do not care about the animals at all,if its a weeks holiday these workers go of and leave the dogs for the duration of the weeks holiday when including the weekend it can be up to 10 days puppies, ill dogs, terrified dogs, big and small are not left any water or food, how these people sleep at night god only knows, usually the podencos are killed first as they usually less likely to find a home, getting to the point of what i wanted to say is the terrified podencos in the perreras are more in need to be saved because of the horror they will face in the perreras beryl, after reading research findings from verified people and groups and working under cover to get the facts, these places need to be closed down forth with, the videos i have seen today show awful abuse that made me want to actually be sick, some of these workers that run these death camps work in insectaside places as well and yes they do use there poisons on these poor souls, all sorts of witnesses have stated the screaming of the dogs the terrible abuse makes them not want to ever repeat what has been heard and said to people on the outside, they are savagly cut up and experimented on they are enbalmed alive they are given intracardiac injections straight into the muscle of the heart and no sedation is given before hand,an animal organisation member who worked in one under cover said they saw these dogs held down screaming and some times the person giving these injections are stabbing away for ages, this horror and all these places has to stop, they must be closed and reopened as adoption centres who have people who care about these animals to look after there needs, dogs are eating other dogs because they are starved, yes its true it is happening and what are we all doing about it,letting it continue we must help these animals its a holacaust hell for these animals and it should not be happening, alot of these kill stations are funded by taxes from the people if they all knew what was happening i hope to god they would be appauled and create merry hell, but most seem to keep there head down in fear that if they speak there familys will be threatened or worse, but if they would only unite all the thousands of them and say NO NO Its not exceptable STOP heads would roll, there are to many animal rescue organisations and most work alone this is no good for helping the dogs, there needs to be one governing body that is responsible for the running of them all,any animal abusers in there camps out they go,these adoption centres can use the money they give the public kennels to be used properly to care and neuter and spay and find adoptive homes,as the money is not being used by the perreras on the dogs that is for sure, they may be police they may be guardias they may be hunters they may be mafia but at the end of the day if spain unites they will find there corrupt arses out, so the associations have dogs and are ready for homes but they are slow to have the homes they need,at least they are hopefully in a place where they are cared for if not they need reporting to the one governing body, the perrera dogs are more criticakl for help before they end up in a mass of dead dogs that were otherwise healthy and could have been homed eventually because they get money for them dead or alive they dont caremthats the trouble,im sure also i have seen podencos in the truck full of dogs sent to china and places for human consumption to be skinned alive to enhance the flavour as the adrenaline flows better when there terrified,i ask you these people need exterminating or allput together on an island together to abuse each other,we have to help this situation more for the podencos they only have us……..
Not all the perreras kill the dogs. And ACTIN is fighting through the courts to get the situation changed in Murcia, for starters. And some of the staff are human, I’ve experience of that. Embalming – that is the galgos as their blood is the richest of any dog. So far as holidays are concerned, I’ve reported on instances where, generally in July and August, all the dogs in a perrera are killed so there are no dogs in there when the staff are on holiday. And I’ve also reported on the rare instances where starving dogs have eaten other dogs…but that’s in very badly run shelters…dogs in perreras are not in there long enough to eat each other before they are killed or saved. ACTIN legal team are currently working through a court case against a ‘refuge’ which, if successful, will be a landmark in the whole of Spain. But as yet, whilst the case is ongoing, nothing can be reported. And the corruption of the man who owns it extends into far reaching walks of life. The answer is, as everyone agrees, mass and enforced neutering of animals in every country. And a blanket ban on breeding.
i have said you can imagine the worse thing ever and it will be going on poor souls suffering all over the world I feel you know I cant even describe how I feel any more all s I know the feeling is so so sad
