Tenerife, Canary Islands. A 77 year old man has been arrested because he murdered his pregnant podenca who was due shortly to give birth!
A neighbour reported hearing him kill the dog by beating it to death so agents from the Garachico nature protection service (Seprona) went to the place of the complaint. They found the podenca buried and a vet certified that death was because the animal had received repeated blows in the cranial area, as well as that the hound was about to give birth.
And the following story from Jane Brian of Pepis Refuge, Pedrera, Seville.
JUST TO LET YOU KNOW HOW IT IS IN SPAIN.
Last year (2013) when I walked one of the dogs through the olive groves not more than 200mtrs from the refuge, I found hundreds of little blue packets next to the irrigation tubes. I knew instantly that it was RAT POISON, deadly to all animals. I took photos of them and later that evening showed the photos to our vet. She was horrified and instantly phoned the Guardia Civil ( Seprona)

If they are by the irrigation tubes, then it’s to stop the rats chewing the tubes to get a drink, that’s what rat poison is for, killing rats.

MY THOUGHTS.
So this will kill rabbits too, and the gamekeeper can legally shoot your dog if it’s seen chasing rabbits….so can he not shoot the farmer for killing the rabbits, and all other animals.
AND another comment from Bev Farmer of Podenco Friends. ‘We have been told here because we have Podencos (hunting dogs) and they are off the lead in land assigned for hunting, we can be fined 300 euros per dog off the lead.’

oh ffs why dint this person go and stop this evil b—— from doing this evil act poor sweet little baby what agony she must have gone through this b——- needs max punishment oh he does they have always been left to their own devices these sodding hunters and the law always seems to be on their side always it proves it what jane and bev say above fighting a loosing battle they dont give a shit they disgust me to the core poor little baby so sorry no one was there to help you sweet little one and your little babies bless you sweet heart
any news re this sad case on what thay are doing any justice for this little baby
Haven’t heard any more about the court case, will try and track down the source of the story but I get so many in every day, and don’t have room to publish them all, that it’s difficult for me to follow up.
