Podencos and cats – compatible?

Fada with cat Mieke Coryn 250 22 2 2014This beautiful photo is of Podenca Canario Fada from Tenerife and in foster with Mieke Coryn in Belgium. Just proving that some podencos can live with cats.

She’s underweight at the moment, Mieke says ‘she was found on the streets with a wounded leg and those people took care of her for 2 weeks. But she was tied with a chain on their balcony because they weren’t allowed animals. After that the organisation took over and she was spayed and stayed at the pension for a few weeks until her flight here.’

Fada will soon gain weight now she is in foster receiving regular meals and love.

If anyone is interested in applying to adopt Fada and offer her a forever home, there is a form to complete on the website Sighthounds2Save – it’s in Flemish/Dutch but your computer may have the option to translate into English – mine does.

Our Podenco, Alfie, gets on just fine with our cat, Poppy. She is quite old and we were pleasantly surprised at just how well they get on.
The Guinea pigs on the other hand are a different matter! 🙂

suppose some will some wont it all depends on the individuale like all sight hounds i have one what will get on with all breeds and the others just want to know their own breed its great when you hear that there is other animal friendly sight hounds around its the sme over here you get lots of enquiries for greys but most have cats so its a case of witing for a cat friendly sight hound to come up for homing but can be fustrating when there is thousnds of greys waiting for homes over here not very often for the cat friendly ones i had a rabbit and 2 budgies when i took my third grey on she wouldnt have any of it so there was no way i was sending her back so my rabbit went to my nieces and my 2 budgies had to go in to havery it was the only way to get peace and stop the sress betewwn them all
